Hiya. :P

You had better have noticed I haven't been around lately! I miss you guys. But I've been super busy playing Horizons: Empire of Istaria. And I'm not done. So, uhm, see you when I am. LOL

How is Horizons going Relee? I remember following it way way back when before it losts in funding and then re-emerged later. Looked like it was going to be a wonderful game. My husband's friends are trying to get him to start playing it with them as well. He and I just left EQ after 5 years, and he is loathe to get back into another online game that takes so much time. That's why I'm loving SL, I can play at my lesiure and not get "behind" my friends. So just curious to hear how Horizons is from the viewpoint of a fellow SLer. :)

Horizons is awesome but at this stage of the game the most fun is competing for firsts. Since the game has only been live a few weeks and the game world is gimongous, there is a lot out there to explore. The most exotic places I've been are the North Pole (aka the tower of Belarget the Wolf and The Ice Tower) and the future player city of Harro.

Horizons DOES take a lot of time to play though, it's not something you would want to spend just an hour a day on. You'd be totally addicted and want to spend all of your time on there!

In any event it's fun, and that's the point.

As for getting behind your friends, that would probably happen... I have played a few characters so I'm way behind some of my guildmates who are at like level 30. :P

That's why I don't really play games like that anymore (level-based or otherwise). If you want to have many characters or just don't play as much as others, you end up weak. And it's a real hassle to "train" even IF you stick to one character and play alot. Good thing SL isn't like that!

Horizons is actually pretty gentle on the leveling treadmill, since all players can do something useful to gain skill, or go on fun quests.

Eventually you don't get enough exp from monsters for the fight to be worthwhile, then it's time to retire. :P
