Your thoughts. Charge what? US or L$? Or cookies? Probably not - but I'm open to it, only if there are NO restriction on what we can post. ![]() _____________________

You proved your own point by starting this thread. You saw another thread that you thought was inappropiate, for whatever reason, and instead of ignoring it, you mockingly cluttered the forums even more.

I'm happy to see that I am not alone in saying these forums have turned into a dog's breakfast. _____________________

Weedy,
I'm sorry, but I think charging for posting is a horrible idea. Right now, we all have a voice, and we have options to ignore those we don't want to hear. The ignore tool is a beautiful thing. Posting in the forums should not only be for the wealthy, no offense, but that is just silly. It would achieve the opposite of what you want. _____________________

The problem is, some people abuse the right, by excessive and meaningless posts. Size limits or limited number of posts per month might work. _____________________

Hey, I love this idea!
If we pay more can people be forced to agree with us? _____________________

"User-created content takes the idea of leveraging player opinions a step further by allowing them to effectively prototype new ideas and features. Developers can then measure which new concepts most improve the products and incorporate them into the game in future patches." |

Sometimes I think we should be paid to read the forums.
Wait, maybe we should only charge for certain words. idiot, asshat, asswipe, and fucktard should cost $100 each. |

I wouldn't mind seeing a much smaller character limit for public posts. It would at least make people try and be more concise. Also a longer time limit between posts to keep people from breaking up novellas into a bunch of subsequent posts and give more cool down time.

All too often, reply posts are knee-jerk. _____________________

Any reason to believe grievers and attention whores could not afford it?
The easiest way to avoid the trash that goes on in the forums is to use the ignore tool heavily. I have maybe 10 people set to ignore and believe me, since I started doing that, life in the forums has been much enjoyable. I also don't bother opening certain threads when I know by the smell escaping from them what I will find inside. _____________________

Some greefer kin are pretty wealthy in L$... and I mean, remember COBRA fighting against GI Joe and all the resources they had at their disposal?
There's some parallels to be made here, including how the kin inworld have been loaded up with money by their questionable benefactors ("da tru greefers" to do dubious things! Meanwhile, the Jokers and Penguins of the world cackle with glee and rub their hands, running off into the night as their henchmen sludge negative dreck that leaves us all stained like buckets of that Ghostbusters slime goo from the 80s and... OK, this is meant to be pseudo-parodical.Anyhoo -- I could see a charge in certain select forums, but on the whole here, I like that we have free access to post like... virtual water. ![]() _____________________

I'm not a fan of the censorship of free speech in any of its forms and feel that charging to post would ultimately silence those who are unwilling or unable to pay more than they already do for SL. Doing so would also reduce the pool of posters and stifle the variety of opinion and discourse we see here. I think most of us can filter out what we consider noise from the threads we choose to read.

So maybe a montly Forum Allowance that was applicable to accounts so people just wouldn't use their alts to make additional postings.
Just a thought, don't hurt me. _____________________

I say leave it alone. As others have mentioned, any artificially imposed limitations will be gamed and/or circumvented. If the forums are getting you down, take a break. I've been a work-related forum hiatus of sorts, and it's funny how that distance gives a body a whole new perspective.
