Group projects and 1.2

How will group projects eventually be handled by SL under 1.2. Anyone know?

As it stands now I'll have to do some annoying calculations each month.

- Total up Dwell.
- Convert dwell to US$ to take off my monthly bill
- Subtract that from $125
- Add on developer bonus.
- If I get a positive figure I send half to Mark Busch.
- If I get a negative figure of more than about $20 I run screaming for the hills.

This really is the only downside to 1.2. Projects like DL will have to think about cash a lot more than they do right now.

Eg, should we really let other people sell weapons? We could just take all the L$ ourselves and make more bucks off the developer rewards. Should we charge more for backpacks? Should we charge an entry fee?

Don't worry, we won't! But still, I don't like thinking about these things ;)

Also, the big worry for big projects is if they have a bad month they could end up with an exceptional bill. I know I'd quit before forking over $50+ for a game. I would not be surprised if we don't see projects appear and implode with lightning speed.

Getting a big project off the ground is going to be equally tricky. Buying a big piece of land, building on it and getting the dwell to pay for it all in one month is going to be a challenge. I guess projects will have to grow slowly.

Anyway, some musings.

Has there been anything announced about 1.2 and groups?

LL still hasnt decided what they will do to groups. I think instead of splitting the money you should use your income towards land credits or whatever they call them. Money from the project is thus kept in the project :)

pending their decision/announcement concerning group dynamics, i'm inclined to agree with eggy. at this point in time, i'm way more worried about group owned land and projects than i am my own stuff.
