SL are always adding new Last names to choose from and the lucky individuals who sign up at that time get them. The selection keeps changing we through the months of being a member we find that Last names come out that we REALLY want but now can't have without making a new account.
But what about people with none basic accounts that pay a lot more to own land, build businesses and help the community of Second Life. Since we are already well established and already paying for the land we own we can't possible buy a new account and pass everything over to it includeing land. The costs for that would be huge. So people who have been in and have helped the community grow can't have the last name they really wanted when it comes as a pickable choice.
Today the last name I wanted in the begining came out "Vixen" Yes at the begining I wanted to be Sakura Vixen but sadly I have to make do with Sakura Raven since there is no way we can change our names.
I really wanted to find out if there are others who have seen their last names come and go and felt sad that you can't have it.

Yeah... I feel the same way... originally I wanted Torley Wong, because Wong is my biological last name... but eh... it died a long time ago I reckon/think... so I went with Torley Torgeson (partially for alliterative reasons). But then, I had second regrets... in hindsight I should have signed up variations of my name also under the last name Torgeson, as to create alts for "parallel universe" versions of myself. Ah well.

Awhile ago LL talked about allowing last name changes for a fee in the future, but I don't know what has become of that - maybe you should ask in the Hotline forum, Sakura
