"What do SL residents dream about?" - A Short Questionnaire

Can any of you kind SL folk possibly help me with the survey below?

It's part of my research for an ongoing design project at college, concerning "virtual communities". I am thinking that the interplay between Second Life and "Dream Life" could provide an interesting focus for this research.

If anyone would be prepared to answer the following questions, I would be very grateful! :D . You don’t necessarily have to answer every question; any feedback will be of help.

I can also pay you some Lindens for the feedback you supply (the worth of each question is indicated beside it). :) I am particularly interested in images.

You can either post replies directly on this forum or, if you prefer, you can send your responses to: onyx_everett@hotmail.com

Where are you logging in from? (country/state/city) Monroe, Michigan, USA.

1) How do you generally experience dreams? (e.g. as emotion, a series of events, visually…)
(worth L$ 20) A series of events visually. Sometimes I wake up and my brain thinks the dream is "real" until it realizes otherwise. Kinda annoying :) To help me combat that I think back through the dream and realize something that's "wrong" (a fire hydrant in the middle of the dining room, for instance). Helps me get back to sleep.

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams? (if so, tell me about it) (worth L$30)

Yes. I've had two dreams where I've dreamt I met friends from in-world; one took place in Seattle apparently, but Seattle with a VERY active volcano behind it.

The second one took place in a bank/house inside Siberia, Russia. That one ended up with a car crash through a snowbank and a very sorry apology.

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle (worth L$50)

Dead in the center between RL and SL.

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)

I always have dreams about the apocalypse and somehow me affecting it. IE: Every time I look out the window, lightning strikes and destroys anything I was looking at. Cue fire and brimstone.

OR, I have my classic "alien invasion/impending doom" nightmare that always wakes me up. imagine huge monolithic, black structures going up all along the horizon, with a red/grey sky overhead. Freaky.

5) Do you ever have Nightmares? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)

See above.

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)

Are those the ones where you can control stuff? Every time I try to control mine they wake me up.

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from.
(worth L$40)

SL is unlike any dream I've had. Surreal, sure, but not dreamlike. But it definitely has a lot of classic dream-like elements (weird stuff fltying by, non-sequitor events and conversations, total control over your destiny, and so on)

LF

Is this for a class too?

1) How do you generally experience dreams? (e.g. as emotion, a series of events, visually…)
In a sequence of visual events. Most of the times they dont even make sense. I.E. I walk into a restroom and end up in on a boat. Sailing on Ice. Or something of that nature.

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams? Not really. I have had a dream where I basically relived events that took place in SL in my dreams but It was RL visuals.

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle (worth L$50)
http://freespace.virgin.net/mil.prucha/placeSelf.jpg

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams? Yes. I have a dream where I die in a car accident quite frequently. But I can never see who is driving the car or who is in it. All i know is that the car has one to many people in it.

5) Do you ever have Nightmares? I have them often. they mostly consist of me dieing in a car accident or my RL girlfriend leaving me for someone else, lol. Im paranoid i guess ?!?

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams?

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from.
I cant really explain how it all happened really. I was Standing infront of Jessi.. we were just talking.. but evertime I decided to say something, my body began to type on an invisible keyboard. When my thought stopped for me to think about something, the typing would stop, but when i picked up the sentence again, it continued. The conversation was long, and I remember having to sit on balls to just be able to sit comfortably. We decided we wanted to go shopping and next thing I know I was floating in the air above Jessi. I willed myself to land. Odd, I know. We walked around and I realized that this world I lived in, this place, had absolutely no good male clothing. It was terrible. Anyway, I was broke, so it didnt matter, I asked Jessi why i didnt have money, she said there wasnt any way to make money, unless I was a builder. Or possibly a scripter, whatever that was. We went about our business and ended up going skinny dipping. Wanna hear the funny part ? I didnt have a penis. WTF?!? Jessi said I would have to buy one, why? its beyond me. Next thing I knew, I was waking up in my bed in a very uncomfortable female pose.

1) How do you generally experience dreams?
Very realistically. I generally remember entire "days" worth of events and people. In fact, I often check clocks and written text, neither of which are reliable when dreaming, to be sure i'm actually awake.

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams?
No. It's too cartoony to invade my dreams.

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle
directly offcenter toward Real Life Dream Life

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams?
I do not to the extent that i look forward to them or wonder what they mean, never more than three, maybe four, times and usually not right in a row.

5) Do you ever have Nightmares?
I did as a child and would occassionally wake up sweating & terrified. I've not had one in a long time short of suddenly falling and such. I generally realize that I'm dreaming and take control or wake up if things start getting too frightening. But I'm much more desensitized and less easily frightened now.

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams?
Most of my dreams are lucid. I live dreams just like i do life with notable exceptions such as flying and talking to dead people.

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from.
I have no idea how to answer this question.

1) How do you generally experience dreams?
as a series of images, and sometimes sounds, that are disconnected on the surface but on introspection usually reveal an underlying theme of some decision i need to make. I always dream in color, usually very vivid, contrasting color (i've heard some people dream in black & white).

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams?
Yes. about three weeks after i started playing, many of my dreams took on the look and feel of images in-world. That has happened before with games i was playing for several hours a day.

And you didn't ask this, but I should add it here i think... there have been a handful of times, usually when i have been tired, where in real life i pointed at objects with my finger trying to get that little box of information to pop up! even happened once while i was driving, and i pointed at a sign by the side of the road. eek!

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle?
two-thirds of the way down from the top, and a little less than halfway from left to right, slightly closer to the left (real life).

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams?
not often, but occasionally. i don't realize they are recurring during the dreams, but after i've woken up i remember. the few i have seem to center on "places" that are a mixture of real and imagined, rather than "events" or "people." One such recurring dream is I am back in Baltimore (where I used to live, and miss very much) and I'm walking around going to places that didn't exist in real life, but somehow I know them in the dream. and all the while i'm thinking something along the lines of "damn, it's good to be back!"

5) Do you ever have Nightmares?
almost never. the dreams i have often leave me with an uneasy feeling, though, or a sense of longing. the only nightmmare i can remember within the past couple of years is of being chased by a couple of dogs while i was riding a bike. the bike's wheels locked up and i had to dismount it, and as i did i saw the dogs had morphed into wolves. i didn't want to but felt i had to throw the bike at them to have a chance of getting away. after i threw the bike (which flew away from me in slow motion), i woke up sweating.

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams?
i'd say about one or two in ten of my dreams is lucid. they usually don't start out that way, but i become aware of the fact that i am dreaming as i go along. it's usually the point where i think i am waking up and i try to stay asleep to see where the dream is going to take me. you'd think if i was near consciousness that the dreams would become more real, but instead they usually become more wacky and surreal. whatever thread of the dream that was making sense at that point simply ceases to be, and it frustrates me! my guess is i am trying too hard to force the dream at that point.

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from.
i'll take the fifth on this one. :)

sorry, no sketches. don't have those skills.

1) How do you generally experience dreams?

Visually, in colour with some emotions associated to the visual. For example, I fly all the time in my dreams (even before SL) and I "feel" the stomach drop associated with really falling in my dreams. (I have done sky diving and bungie jumping before, so I know this feeling in RL).

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams?

Most definately - one would think in terms of flying since I have so many flying dreams, but not so. My SL dreams pertain more to building. I dream about how to make the shapes and their colors and also I dream about SL committments that I have made. For example, a committment to make a certain plant for someone.

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle?

Down toward the bottom, closer to RL than SL.

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams?

I have two: 1 - I fly everywhere. When I started a new job and after six months we moved to a new building, I was flying instead of walking through the corridors of the new building. I fly through my old childhood neighborhood. Once, when I was very distressed due to the death of a beloved pet, I dreamed that I flew into space (looking for him) and it was very cold and I could see stars and I could not easily get back. I fell - spiral toward the earth. I literally could not get my breath, like at a high altitude.

2. I dream a lot about tidal waves. I did see one once in the 1960's when I was 8. But my dreams differ from what I saw. I dream that all the water leaves the sea and I am on the beach telling people that it is coming. (In RL, we were on a hill many miles away, watching for it to come in). Then a big wall of water comes and I am running, but stopping to move people who still refuse to see the big wall of water. I have this dream less often than the flying one.

5) Do you ever have Nightmares?

Yes. Being chased by bad people, I have that one periodically. And also once I dreamed I was an animal chasing another smaller frightened animal in order to catch and eat it. I think I was chasing a kitten or a rabbit. This horrified me because I love all animals so much. Funny thing, when I woke, my dog was sleeping on my shoulder and making wimpering doggie dream noises and I'd wondered if I'd picked up on his dreams.

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams? Yes - when the dream is going bad, like when I am being chased, I think I wake a little or have forced myself awake out of fear and then fallen back asleep and began a less frightening dream.

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from.

One of the first builds that I did in SL closely resembled my former home in Canada (a very happy time and a beautiful place). I think that I built it out of my dreams and that in SL, somehow the two had come together.

All of the trees and the way that the house was designed - it all reminded me of home and of my dreams of home.

Thankyou for these great replies :) I really appreciate the help! In case your wondering, the purpose of this survey is to help inspire some thought as to how I could use SL a bit more creatively. Guess I'll have to sleep on it ;). In any case, I will be IW tomorrow so I will be sure to pay you all then. Thanks again for your feedback folks!! :D

1) How do you generally experience dreams? (e.g. as emotion, a series of events, visually…)
I usually do, I find that on nights if I did anything that required more thinking than reading a book just before I go to sleep I find it much more difficult to sleep I am able t remember my dreams more clearly.

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams? (if so, tell me about it) (worth L$30)
I'm quite new to SL but I did have one dream about SecondLife, it was the night after I joined the 'SL Hobos' group and I dreamt that I (not my avatar) was in an alley set in a city in another game I play (I had played it earlier that night and there are lots of hobos in the game) but that is all I remember

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle (worth L$50)
http://freespace.virgin.net/mil.prucha/placeSelf.jpg
I can't see this triangle but based on other peoples replies I'm going to say in the middle, between SL and RL but leaning a little more to SL, I'm a hermit.

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)
There was once I havent had for a while now but I used to have the same dream about once a year, I was back as a child in my old primary school and I was being chased around the grounds by some vicious talking dogs, my old schoolfriends were there and all the teachers in the school were hiding indoors and wouldn't let us children in. My sketch (done very badly in paint, is here, the tree is somehow important) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/___Josh___/dreamsketch1.bmp

5) Do you ever have Nightmares? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)
I very rarely get nightmares anymore, I used to get them quite frequently, one I had once and can remember quite well was involving a sort of vampire/duck creatue (the cartoon disney ducks) there was a female one with red hair and these vampires ate your neck rather than bit it, I also remember a bathtub. (Sketch is here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/___Josh___/Dreamsketch2.bmp

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)
I had one once, I was with three people I didn't know and it was in the town where I used to live, there were werewolves about and we ran into a house of witches, the indoors of teh house was of my second childhood home and the witches inside stayed at the top of the stairs and attacked us, whenever we went outside to get away a werewolf was pacing past the door and I remember it jumped on me and sunk its claw into me, I vividly remember that I felt actual pain from its claws. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v285/___Josh___/dreamsketch3.bmp

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from.
(worth L$40) When my dream started I was in a strange place with some steps on wheels nearby and a floating motorbike, there were strange looking people about and one was formed of yellow spheres, I walked down a railed walkway and then found this place filled with large, pale wooden cubes and spheres and even some space ships and alot of other junk, it was like someone dumped their imagination on the ground, I approached one of the spaceships and tried to get in but it propelled me into the air shrieking "You are not the owner" I thought I was going to fall but I discovered I could fly! I became very excited and the next thing I knew I was awake.

Extra Notes:
Sorry about the terribleness of the sketches, I haven't got a scanner so they had to be done in paint, you can see why I don't make texture for SL =)

Your Second Life character name is: Nikolaii Uritsky. I can only provide a picture of my most recent av, but I have more than 10 seperate ones at this point, of varying gender/style/size/etc. http://heart-hat.ragingenjoyment.net/Nikolaii_006.png

Where are you logging in from? United States / Colorado / Ft. Collins

1) How do you generally experience dreams? Linear and extremely detailed. I experience all senses, can often feel pain, and the dreams generally continue the whole night. I can wake up once, look at the clock, fall back asleep, continue the dream I was having, and then wake up MANY hourse later and can remember the events of the drea all the way back to the time I woke up earlier.

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams? I haven't been here long enough for a full takeover, but recently I have been changing camera angle in my dreams much like in SL. With perceived Ctrl+Alt+Dragging.

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle Probably right in the middle.

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams? I used to, but not so much anymore. I know there is a place that keeps popping up, but I can't for the life of me remember it.

5) Do you ever have Nightmares? Every once in a while. Not often, at all. Maybe once every two years?

The last one I had was about my mother and someone very close to me. It was in a very Alice In Wonderland kind of setting, complete with appropriate clothing. In the dream, I only wanted to be with this person. I wanted to spend time with them and be near to them. But my mother kept staring at me and walking past and showing up and was making me feel really bad. Almost guilty for something I should not have felt guilty about. Finally, she lured this person out to a remote area to kill him. And I had to run through mazes to try to catch up with them so I could stop this from happening. In the end, I was able to, but it was not a good dream at all.

When I woke up, I realized a lot of things about the dream. Most of it was VERY symbolic of things happening in my life at the time. And some things were rather literal.

In the end, I told the RL person from the dream about the dream and they were very receptive and we talked about a lot of things. In a way, the dream was very helpful and because of it, I was able to stop something along those lines from really happening. (Not someone I know being killed by my mother, but you know..)

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams? ALL the time. I have the crazy ability to wake up, go to the bathroom or something, and then go back to sleep and can slip back into the dream where I left off. And sometimes, when this happens, I can still be dreaming as I am walking around and doing things. During that time, it's not good to force anything too much, because then I wake up and it's really hard to get back into it, but I can control things if I want to.

Often, when I do allow myself to Lucid Dream, this just means asking questions of other people in the dream or going back to places I've been in the dream to learn more about a particular event or place. The answers I get often greatly help me later when I'm fully awake and analysing the dream. I find that everything in my dreams often mean something important about something going on in my life, and can really help me better understand my day-to-day reactions and experiences.

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from. This is a fun question. :D If I woke up from SL, I would take a good, long look at all my different appearances and gender-splitting and whatnot. In RL, I have convinced myself for a long time that I am fine with my given gender, because there is not much I can do to change it. But since I came into SL, I have found more and more that I may not be quite as acclimated as I often consider myself. SL has served as a great tool for self-discovery, just as most of my dreams do. So it really is a good comparison.

1) How do you generally experience dreams? (e.g. as emotion, a series of events, visually…)
(worth L$ 20)
Usually as a series of events; most of the times as Deja Vu experiences. Usually forgotten, until a DV trigger.

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams? (if so, tell me about it) (worth L$30)
Surprisingly, yes; walking down an RL street, decide I needed a car, hit "ctl-4";(don't ask me how, it's a dream), and start building. Wake up before it's finished (doh!)

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle (worth L$50)
Middle of the line btwn RL and DL

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)
Always alone in a city, no one there (sometimes one of my friends, but that's it)
Varies slightly, usually I can fly, or we have guns, or a plane. Something to do with flight or violence. City is empty, buildings are varying sizes but they are all white and usually have no windows.(or staggered windows: see sketch) If friend is in the dream, she usually looks at me for a while, then I wake up. No recollection until some kind of trigger.
Sketchy (Guy with glasses is me, girl is friend)

5) Do you ever have Nightmares? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)
Simple one, pic included: alone in a field of grey, absolutely NOTHING around. Walk around a bit, then the ground dissappears as well. Could possibly make one insane for long periods:
Sketchy (kinda open to interpretation)

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams? (If so, describe one. Draw me a quick sketch which reflects/symbolises this dream) (Description worth: L$30, Image worth: L$80)
In the middle of a conference hall; am giving a speech to several darkly clad men, who I can vaguely sense are testing me. The speech is about revolution; in the middle, I am suddenly aware of my unconscious/subconscious state, and somehow change my surroundings, leaving me in a large open field. I begin to use my new "powers" of creation, but I can't remember what I do before I wake up.
Stuff on left is beginning, stuff on right is awareness)

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from.
(worth L$40)
Huh, this is worded kind of weirdly, but I'll try. :)
Most of my creations, especially Iceman Joe are somewhat inspired from dreams; I guess my best answer to that would be that for me, SL starts to blur the line between the Dream World and the Real World, as far as creative content goes.

~ Second Life character name: Kats Kothari (picture at the end of the post)

~ Where are you logging in from?: Dorado, Puerto Rico.

~ How do you generally experience dreams?(e.g. as emotion, a series of events, visually…): Like many players, I tend to dream in a series of events. Many times I have had that feeling of Deja Vu and then remember that I dreamt about the event in question once before. This has happened to the point that I actually know how a conversation will go, what the other people will say and what will hapen afterwards. It's a bit surreal sometimes, but I am a bit weird, so I deal with it.

~ Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams?: Not yet, so far. I have dreamt in the past that I am flying, but that's a pretty normal dream and not specifically related to SL.

~ Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle: I would place myself between RL and SL. I don't think that I lean more towrds one than the other, so that would place me right in the middle. ;)

~ Do you ever have Recurring Dreams?: It has been a long time since I had a recurring dream. When I was a child, my mother would take me to school. Her procedure was to take out the car while I was in it and then getting out to close the gates. She then would get back in the car and take me to school. During my childhood I would have the same weird recurring dream in which she would get out of the car to close the gates and then the car would drive off by itself with me in it. What made this dream so weird for me was that when I was told about the existance of the Emergency Brake, in the final recurring dream I pulled the emergency break and stopped the car. After that I never had that dream again. My inner psychologist tells me that this might have a hidden meaning, but I prefer not to analyze it too much.

~ Do you ever have Nightmares?: I have had many nightmares in the past... some surreal and some realistic. I have had the kind in which I actually feel physical pain and the ones in which the pain is emotional and it ends up waking me up. Most of the time I dream about things that were bothering me before I go to sleep (I go to sleep with these thoughts, so I end up dreaming dreams related to them).

~ Do you ever have Lucid Dreams?: Most of my current dreams are lucid. When I was a child they were more surreal than realistic, but now that I am an adult they tend to be more realistic. I haven't lost much of the imagination that I had as a child, but given that now I have adult problems in my head, I dream about them more often.

~ Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from: I don't know exactly how to explain this question, but I will try to even though written words are not exactly my forté. :) I guess that playing SL can be considered something similar to a dream, in which this is the escape to reality that many of us seek. While dreams tend to be involuntary, we can control our experiences in SL (for the most part at least). To me SL is like a surreal dream in which I can do many things that I can't do in RL (fly, ride Yoshi, have a pet Moogle, etc.) and in which I don't have to worry about the many things that I worry about in RL (bills, stress, weight-gain, etc.).

Hope that helps answer your questions. If you need any more help or any clarification on what I wrote, feel free to contact me inworld. :)

me with my partner cartridge partridge :)

Where are you logging in from? : Singapore, Jurong

1) How do you generally experience dreams?: I dream everyday. It is always in colour and I can hear in my dreams much like one experiences being in a walk in movie theater. I can interact with the characters in my dreams although most of the time I have to go with the flow of the storyline of the dream. Sometimes these dreams turn out to be deja vous, some times it is a form of advice. Most times its just crazy dreams that might have key elements in present life.

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams?: Ohh ... First two months I dreamt of second life occasionally. One of the first places I went in secondlife, I was in a snow sim. In my dream, I was in a log cabin and it was snowing outside. I entered the cabin and saw many sl people there. They were sitting down at a table and talking and introducting themselves. I sat there too. I saw one of the person there - he was wearing a very light pink shirt and not talking very much. I could sense who that person was in that dream. Anyways, the strange thing is, it wasnt SL avatars that I was talking to, but normal people. But I could sense that they were from sl, in my dream.

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle
I'd put myself right smack in the middle of the triangle. :p

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams? : Well, I dont know if I could categorize it as recurring dream. But I would usually dream of this same place where I have always dreamed as a child. But as I grew older, the place evolved too till I was able to find a door, and a key and find an even bigger place that connects to it.

(cant draw, soz)

5) Do you ever have Nightmares?: Yes, but very rarely, most of the times when I do have nightmares it would be one when someone wants to harm me or my family. There was a dream when I was in a haunted house, with many zombies and then I saw my family turning into zombies. Woke up and found that I was crying. It wasnt visually scary, however, I felt like I have lost something very precious.

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams? Yes, but quite rarely. When I do have lucid dreams, its amazing the things I could do and control

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from. : So surreal, I'm like a magician, crafting things, flying around ...

New York, New York

The few times I remember them they are an adventure in colour but I don't usually recall them, don't have enough REM sleep.

Not that I recall, no.

I'm not on that triangle. I'm outside that triangle, looking at it from above, and occasionally emerging into one of those sectors but with the observing eye remaining.

Yes, the recurring nightmare involves not having a passport or visa to get into Russia, or being forced to go back to school. Can't draw for shit, sry.

Yes, it always involves believing that I have already gotten up, and already looked around the room and walked into the hallway when I haven't really.

Second Life isn't a dream. It's just a thingie.

Where are you logging in from? (country/state/city)

USA/California/Los Angeles

1) How do you generally experience dreams?
Series of events, myself interacting with other people and things

2) Has Second Life ever invaded your dreams?
Yes.
Mostly the GUI windows and popups appear, but I've also spotted other avitars and visited SL places. In the dreams, I seem to be actually "in" SL as opposed to playing it on my computer, and tend to drift between SL and RL.

3) Mark where you would place your “self” within this triangle
As many others have posted, I'm at the bottom of the triangle, between RL and SL. I don't take my dream self very seriously.

4) Do you ever have Recurring Dreams?
Yes.
Many involve airplanes and airlines. Often I'm flying home from some exotic distant place and the plane lands (or crashes) in the wrong city and I'm stranded- or have to get home in some bizare convoluted way

5) Do you ever have Nightmares?
Yes! Too many.
Top themes include gross and the grotesque- maggots, worms, scorpions, monsterous animals and horrifying accidents and injuries. Other nightmares include plane crashes, getting lost, and a spooky dark room full of menacing grandfather clock-like creatures with menacing faces (see second image for crude sketch of the clock monster).

6) Do you ever have Lucid Dreams?
Sometimes.
I usually drift in and out of the lucidness and can't completly control them. In a recent one I was menaced by some nebulous threat and chose to defend myself by turning into a hidious zombielike creature to scare it away.

7) Describe Second Life as if it was a dream that you had just woken up from.
I'd describe it as an unusually pleasant dream. Maybe a giant garden island with friendly people and ecclectic buildings (some SL builds do have a surreal dream quality to them- I live near a giant milk carton, for example). No threats, no hassles, nothing to freaky. Too bad more dreams aren't like that.
