Oh god, somebody lynch Cross, she's started another thread on this topic!

I dunno, this just popped into my head today. I guess it isn't even really relevant... relavent... relavant... I can't spell that word. Anyway, it doesn't matter since LL is gonna eviscerate (howcome I can spell THAT?) the ratings system entirely and replace it with a new rep system of some kind.

But yeah... why not completely decouple ratings from the economy? Give everyone a 'rating stipend', whereby they get a certain number of rating points per week, that they can give out as they see fit (for free!). That maintains their 'scarcity value', since everyone only has a limited number to give at any time, and it doesn't bankrupt the n00bs. :D

Ow! OW! Stop throwing things at me! I'm leaving, I'm leaving!!

This is not a crazy idea at all.

I was just thinking of this last night. I think it's fair and equitable.

BIG thumbs up to this idea.

Sounds like one of the reward/sanction parenting methods I've seen advocated in child development literature. I betcha something like this could work!

I would support this system. I think it's a good idea. :) I'm kinda hoping that they do something a bit farther removed from the current system though.

But then that's less money disapearing, which is bad, isn't it?

I like the new system, being able to rate people and them not rating back is delicious ; watching guilt on their face and knowing that they have this feeling of worslessness in their mind...
Mwahahaha! I can affect people's feelings and mood! I am like a god !!

Thank you LL.

OMG someone that finally gets it other than me...yeah for you Cross.

Yes, I have been very adament about this over the past few days and that is a key point I have said time and again.

From: someone
completely decouple ratings from the economy

This would eliminate the Rate Mine Partys for cash

It would also force LL to look at a system that if they are to give welfair money to new upstarts then it would have to be a set one that was controlable by LL and could not be gamed in anyway.

This <<current>> "Fix" is not a "Fix" but a means to slow down the current process but by no means stops rate mining or the Social Elite from being the clubbing Clubbiest raters.

So yes I totaly agree with you Cross and I have actually been saying it for the last few days.

Again Kudo's

edited to add the word current

Count my vote for this!

But to add more discussion on this topic, how many ratings per week would you allow a person to give? 5.. 10? I think any more than that would push ratings back to a "meaningless" status. My personal thought is that 5 would be plenty, or even 7.... one per day.

Hehe... I suggested this a few days ago also. It certainly gets my vote!

I feel ratings can be somewhat interesting.
-Makes us wonder about someone if they have 10 negs.
-Also makes us wonder about someone if they have given several negs.
-Lets us see who is the social bunnies vs the recluses.
-Forces a select group of us to get out of seclusion and actually mingle around more. (Hey, I admit it.. I have social phobias and need that push.. and it HAS helped.. Really! LMAO)

Does it need to be hooked to the ecomony? Heck NO!

I have another idea to replace the bonuses, but I am afraid *I* will get lynched. LOL

Aw c'mon, Anjelle! Let's hear your idea! What's a bit of lynching between friends? :D

Seven rating points per week... or maybe some multiple of that... sounds like a good idea, Stormy. Of course, rating points shouldn't 'carry over' between weeks. We don't want 'Ratings Barons', now, do we? ;)
