Did anyone else catch Jon Stewart on Crossfire? I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised about the fact that he nailed those idiots to the wall. He started off quietly, and they never saw it coming, nor could they do much more than stammer and say "I thought he was supposed to be funny". Brilliant television, and more importantly, brilliant commentary on how pathetic our media has become. If you have not seen the interview, you can find it here:

The headline on that site is right - it is a brutal exchange - he ripped them to shreds, and rightfully so.

I like that

a) The crowd was applauding Stewart. This is a the crowd of the Crossfire show applauding him.

b) When he is being challenged for not asking hard questions during his show and he explains that he isn't a news show but a show that has a lead in of puppets making prank phone calls.

Stewart is the best sit down comedian in the world.

That rocked! It's a sad state of affairs when the most honest newsman in the business is a satirist. His criticism is dead on. All they do on Crossfire is repeat partisan talking points ad nauseum. I think the Daily Show is the funniest show on television. It's the only thing I go out of my way to watch.

I caught it and it rocked! I just finished reading The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction. It was a fantastic read. I strongly suggest this stoned slacker piece of literature if you like Jon Stewart. :D

Eugh RealPlayer...

Anyway, I never watch Crossfire and more than likely never will. But John Stewart rocks and was very intelligent and honest about that.

It was kinda sad towards the end he just gave up on trying to explain to them his point because they just weren't getting it (sad for them, not for him).

Whats funny is the crowd was actualy agreeing with him.

I lesserthanthree John Stewart.

Wow, thanks for the link. It's about time someone slammed the cable media for their black and white partisanship.

I never watch crossfire or many other news shows anymore, because they usually just anger me, but I do like Chris Mathews Hardball.

The guy is truely fair and balance.

Jon is a funny guy and most "serious" people tend to underestimate funny people.
