81 Avatars in One Sim!!

Okay, so the new sim, Island, is barren and flat, but we crammed 81 avatars into it just now! I finally lagged out at 81 and can not connect to the region now because it must be full.

Most did not start lagging until after 60 AV were there! Sims used to be full at 30 avatars, sooo, Woohoo, Hooray 1.2!

Thanks to all those who accepted the group spam and joined in the effort to fill the sim. If someone saw it above 81, please chime in!

The new better framerates are great. I'm really happy with the hew optimizations in the engine. Hats off for that.

i saw eight green dots and myself on the large map but never rendered the island. i finally had to quit and rerun the client. i'm only using a geforce 2 with 32mb.

That was so much fun! When I first got to the Island, there were only about 8 of us there. I finally crashed out just as we hit the 81 mark. At that point, I could still slightly move, but everything looked like it was in slow motion, and it was taking up to a minute for typed chat to come through. Yet, with 80 people there (since I crashed at 81), I bascially felt the performace was comparable to what I used to see in a script/prim heavy sim with only 20 or so people in it. Very nice upgrade I would say. :)

The racing was a blast by the way! hehe :D

hehe I got a pic about halfway into it , not the best and clearest , i tried to sharpen it since I was pretty far away. My snapshot at the 70+ mark didn't upload .. I'd set 512 distance and it was an awesome shot , just sat there though on uploading :(

I heard 82.

now, my system is pretty low end, but I was getting between 4-7 fps up until we killed the sim. with 1.2 in an empty sim and standing still I get about 10-15, which is acceptable.

The system was working flawlessly well into the 50's and 60's. I started getting substantial fps lag beyond 60 AVs which would have been too much to enjoy the game.

I guess this means busy Stage 4 events should never be a laggy problem again =)

hehe, I noticed something was up when my chat messages weren't going through after about 70 avatars were in the area...
Then about 5 minutes later, ONE of my chat messages went through, but it was under someone else's name, then BOOM the server crashed :p
that was FUN! :D
