New Last Name For Alts!

just noticed they put in the last name "Altman". is that the last name for alts like "Thereian" is for people from There?

they really did put in that last name but i'm kiddin' about the question. :D

here's a real one, who chooses which last names to include and where do they come from?

I've always wondered why, in a system that empowers you to create almost any appearance for yourself, to run businesses, to build with such freedom, we are limited to picking from a list of second names? Doesn't that seem a little limiting? Why on earth can't we make up our second name like we can our first?

Well, originally there was this notion of a sorta sub community spirit community spirit of familyness, I believe.

Does anybody actually only operate in communities with the same last name then? Well, there are some little villages in England I can think of...but that's not good. Not good at all. ;)

LOL! I've been to those places. Scawwy. They say people look like their dogs... in some towns in the UK they look like their mother, father, brother, sister, uncle....

Anyhoo, I'm just tellin ya thats how I thought it was supposed to be with the surname thing :)

It worked out ok for the Spencer twins :)

Most likely the issue is one of keeping inappropriate names from being used.

In games like UO, where you were allowed to name your character anything you wished, often, some immature individuals, would make names that would be a certain offense against the TOS.

Yes, they can.

But limiting it to a single name instead of giving people the wholesome goodness of both fields, most certainly cuts down on just how "immature" these people can be.

if you notice, a person's choice of last name indicates the type of character they will play. <indignant flame disclaimer> this is a strictly non-scientific observation; i'm not claiming that it's a absolutly factual indicator. </indignant flame disclaimer>

hosts of notable brokers, builders, clubbers, event hosts, griefers, loners, mentors, mogols, scripters, texturers & vampires share last names that were chosen before they were ever even inworld. the funny thing is that alts, created long after the mains, are the same way.
