Ivory Tower Library of Primitives in Noyo is Moving to a Natoma Near You!
I've been having some trouble with the location of Ivory Tower Library of Primitives in Noyo for some time now. I've come fairly close to using up the prims I have there and I've found it very difficult, if not impossible to get more land in that sim.
Since I've been steadily working to get as much of the sim of Natoma for almost a year now, I believe I have enough space and prim allocation to begin a move. This will probably take a few weeks to do, because I want to make a new tower from scratch in Natoma to house the original exhibits
I willl also be extensively updating the old exhibits as they are transplanted from one tower to the other to bring the library's information to the current standard since the 1.5.* upgrade.
I'll be demolishing the Noyo tower from the top down, and building a new, less prim-heavy and more intelligently designed building in the southeastern corner of Natoma. I've learned a great deal buiding the Noyo tower...and I will be using this knowlege to make a better and more user-friendly structure.
In other Ivory Tower Library of Primitives news, it is my hope to continue getting all of Natoma that I possibly can, and at long last install a comprehensive set of texturing and avatar creation tutorials in Natoma. Last night I had a great meeting with Robin Sojourner, a RL artist who creates a great deal of professional 3D imagery for books, games and other publications. I'm thankful to have her help, expertise, and guidence to understand and explain how 3D UV mapping works in SecondLife, and what rammifcations that has for our creations here when we texture them.
The third and final branch of the Ivory Tower Library will be an extensive set of tutorials on land ownership, configuration and editing. I hope to be able to complete all of these plans and still have a large prim allocation leftover to play with for the sim's public sandboxes, and weekly Edifice Rex group building challenges.
This isn't all going to happen in a week or two, but I think things will have pretty well taken shape a couple of months from now. Perhaps the Noyo tower will be no more by that time. For a while, I'll have a fully buidling tutorial located in both sims, but most of my Noyo holdings will be given over to my friend Salazar Jack's long term forest restoration project.
Thank you all for using and directing other uses to the Ivory Tower, it is my hope that this move and subsequent additions to the library will benefit the building community at large, now and into the future of SecondLife.
Lumi

I'll miss the old Noyo tower, as it was the first major build I visited in SL and it really helped me learn the ins & outs of prims. But I look forward to seeing the new library in Natoma, and I wish you the best in your development & land acquisition.
BTW, will you be using the existing Natoma tower? Or will you be starting again from scratch?

Warms the cockles of my heart to read that Perhaps sometime you'll teach me the 27% you've picked up on your own, although I imagine it's a lot more than that. Lumi

From: Lumiere Noir Hey Beatfox! The existing Natoma tower will house a texturing and avatar making tutorial. And perhaps a White or Black Spy Embassy You should have White and Black spy embassies so they can have wars. Good luck with the move, you really are one of SL's finest. To any new player in SL, this is a MUST see attraction, teaches you everything you need to know about building.

Thanks so much Schwan The White and Black spy Embassies are part of why all this is happening...I want to get the library out of the line of fire as much as possible! Lumi

Lumi,
I've always felt that my 2000 m2 in Ganymede that hosts the Iraqi War Memorial is my "community contribution"... a sort of "tithe", so to speak.
But what you have done with the Ivory Tower is incredible, and a great asset to the SL.
I tip my cap...
- Ace

From your first build way back in December 03 to your latest, you never fail to teach, learn, challenge and delight. I am so pleased that I know you and very pleased you have realized your desire to move everything to one sim. Congrats, Wu! 'blowkiss

I spy an incredibly big hearted guy. Thank you for your Gigantor (why hasn't someone made a Gigantor in SL?) contributions and wonderful, self-paced 3D building tutorials. I'm glad that you are able to take better advantage of the new Natoma location. And I'm very thankful to accept your gift of the Noyo land you gave to the Phyneas Jack Memorial Trust's driving project -- the restoration of the Forest of Kahruvel. Previously know as the Forest of Rodeo. Good luck in Natoma!

I absolutely adore the ivory tower lumiere, words just cannot express the depth of the commitment that you've put in through, suffice to say that I really really do appreciate this wonderful building that you've created. I've learnt so much from it Though I'm sad to see the ivory tower go, I am looking forward to the new and improved building

I think alot of us would still be living in newbie cabins or huddled under trees if it wasn't for the Ivory Towers. I never knew who to thank for them... so... Thanks!

What's a Gigantor? Is that like a gigantic refrigerator? If it's massive, Marcos can build it. And maybe even stock it with dill pickles.

When I started playing SL and I started to read the forums, I saw this name Lumiere Noir, wich sounded to me, as the name for a person, a great name. Then after not too much time I heard of the existence of a place called The Ivory Tower Library of Primitives and I thought it was, as the name for a place, a great name. The place in fact was great, but the person is just the best. And Natoma is closer.
