Hold it on the corner of four sims and distribute the load equally between all four.

Minimalist build, for starters. Given that the consumer objects probably have plenty of embedded prims, textures and scripts, they'll produce lag-o-plenty in and of themselves. You might want to reserve the Linden Stage 4 (I think??) area, and use only a basic platform object.

Some general tips:

--Minimize listener scripts
--Optimize all textures in PhotoShop or PaintShop Pro
--Minimize objects set to "light" type
--Minimize rotating objects

How's that for starters? I'm sure others will chime in with plenty of other suggestion, as well. Best of luck!!

how about doing it as multiday event?

wouldn't that defeat the purpose of showing off the cool things people build in sl?

How about a web ring sort of concept, with a notecard with a teleport link to participant areas and a teleport from each area to the next if they want to follow the path?

Sweet idea, Lynne!

And StoneSelf - I was referring more to the build, itself; not so much with regard to the display objects.

Depends on the size of your parcel. If it's small, I'd suggest having lo-rez textures to represent each person's product. Then, a main showcase/stage where every 5 minutes or so, someone shows off a product for the next 5-10 mins. The textures would indicate showtimes for the products.

If you have an entire sim, you could divide it into a quad... with each quad a different type of product... vehicles, attachments, clothing, gadgets. Have individual showcases facing inwards along the outside border of the sim. In the center, each quad could have a stage for special presentations of products.

if you could have "unlimited" space, how much would be enough space?

i wonder if it's possible to create smaller sized sims with the same cpu power as a normal sl sim.

do it in zoe three days at a time with each period showcasing a different type of build. if you have more people to show in a category than you have room, add a second showing for that group into the schedule.

you'll be able to readvertise it every few days and all will have a chance to show and to see a lot more than if it's crammed into a single event. this could go on for quite a while.
