I was planting some LL tree down the other day and OMG the swing a lot I'm sure we all know this already, but their amount of movement is such that trees can casue troubles if placed close to a plot edge or close to a building. It is nice to have some thin branch or just leaf movement, BUT THE WHOLE TREE swings like if it was rubber... It would take really strong wind to make a tree trunk (from the base up) swing like that... so strong that it would make people fly all over the place ehe he he To render trees more usable I would like to see their wind effect movement greatly reduced, do you agree? Or do you like them just as they are and you would leave them like that?

I like the movement, but it would be nice to be able to adjust the stiffness of the tree.
Also, why can't we just select the type of tree we want from a menubox in the creation dialog?!?!?!

Linden trees are magical. They look great, sway in the wind, and are only one prim!
When you go to create a tree, they will spawn randomly. You have to just keep creatng more til you get the type you like. Once you found the one you want to use, you can shift copy to make more of those. In the library, many of the default trees can be found in the objects folder, just drag a new tree by type out from there. You can also take the trees you have made, so many create their own folder of trees they commonly use so that they can be accessed easily.

intermix player built trees for some static beauty, then let the linden trees provide a little movement for your garden. let them flop over sideways if they will. what would be nice is if they were limited to flopping on your own property and not allowed to lean so far into neighboring parcels that they go through their walls.

Sometimes, like in a cartoon, there is a need for exaggerated movement to catch the eye, and emphasize certain actions in the process. A number of stock animations and dances in SL are also a good example of this, as "too subtle body language" isn't captured well on the finite resolution of a computer screen -- while scalable, it's inconvenient to camscan in and out to catch such details. I too am in favor of "controllable wobblybility" for the trees, but the aforementioned is simply my observation as to why they might be so, uh, jiggly.

The "wind" in SL is variable. Sometimes the trees don't move at all and sometimes they move a lot. It also changes direction occasionally. There is a way to find out that info in the Debug menu somewhere but I forget how.
