This is a very bold idea: but franky i think parades in second life be quite interesting. Some people will create floats/booths, etc. The parades will be held on major holidays such as Christmas or Thanksgiving Day.

And not without a glitch...I remember the dismembered floats and crashes...but that is not to say that someone could not try again.

There was a parade not long ago that was organized by LL. It toured through the northeastern sims (which are now more or less in the middle of the map) by water. It was fun. The problem was that all the spectators caused huge lag, and the parade broke down in places.

Haney, I have a whole bunch from when I covered the event for SLBN, most unprocessed. If you want, I can dig them up from my other computer.

Also if anyone is interested, I never took down the slideshow of the images from that program.

The Parade coverage should be in the first section, halfway down.

Watching the Rose Parade this year I was thinking, "wouldnt it be cool if someone created a marching band?"

Ok, now someone get on it!

;)

The aniversery parade was cool in concept but the lag really scrambled things.

I'm not familiar with how the floats were moved or steered. Did the fact that they had to be moved contribute to the problem? Or was it just a matter of a large amount of prims + a crowded area.

If moving the floats had anything to do with it, would keeping the floats stationary and moving the audiance (as if they were on a converyer belt) solve the problem?

p.s. go easy on me if it's not one of my better ideas :p

We had a parade on Labor Day 2003 I remember. Everyone flew with their floats attached to them. I remember Maggie Miller made a Wal-Mart but couldn't make the parade and Fleabite wore it instead!! I have some pictures but unfortunatly they are on my HD in Calif. :-(

We flew from Blue to Dore and back, we buzzed Stage 4 and made a Mentor who was giving a class very unhappy. hehe
