Clubs groups banning all competition

Well, there i was with my newbie friend and i said well ill take him a club and let him see the night life..and wow im banned from the parcel.. and i have dj'ed for the owner before and thought we were one good terms.. well i decide to check the ban list and see if maybe they just restricted it to the group.. nope.. almost everyone that actually owns a club or anything that brings in a good amount of dwell.. owns a grip of land..or are really close to someone that does.. is on that list. Now i ask.. why would someone just ban all competition.. thats kinda shady dont you think? I mean my competition is welcome to hang out on my land anytime they want.. they bring me dwell! I guess this is the new thing though.. you ban all the competition from every club that is hosted by your little group.. hmm thrifty thinking.



After going over the list for a second time i realised.. its mainly composed of people that regularly go to paradise island..whats the coincidence that the staff/regular patrons all pissed these club owners off? pfft slim to none.. the chances of one club owner knowing all these people is slim to none.. you do the math

When things get tough in a free market, tough measures are needed. Its obvious that true capitalists are running clubs in SL. Warms my heart.

By banning the competition, they hurt nobody but themselves. I'm stunned at the stupidity of some people.

This is just my theory, but this is what I think about ban lists in general, not just club land.

The ban list is like a non-functioning negative behavior rating. It keeps the people off your land sure, but it also allows the (immature) owner to say something like, "Hey, look at my ban list, those are the people I hate, you should hate them too."

Ban lists do serve a purpose, dont get me wrong. But I do wonder more about those that have really long ban lists than the actual people on that list.

Why are land options like access, ban, and stream URL public anyway?

I dunno Billy are you sure you arent jumping to conclusions? How are "you" competition for a club? I just don't see it..... and for the record I have you banned rom all my islands because I think you are an asshat not cus of any "competition".... maybe they think the same thing?

Some people apparently pay for their streams and get screwed when people suddenly steal the url and start playing it all over the metaverse.

oh... hmm yeah, pay by user is certainly not a good way to go ... I can see how that would be a problem.

I run my own shoutcast server and it only allows ten connections. I'd rather have those ten people be listening on my land than someone else's. Anyone running their own server will have similar issues.
