It looks like when they shuffle everyone loses 1/12th of their height, and it's cleverly arranged that the spare bits match up to an extra bod. Or most of one. If you look, after the change most people are missing chunks - a pair of shorts, the top of their head, etc...

Yes i kinda thought that too Hawk, but no amount of staring at each character showed me where one was lost/gained.

It's making my head hurt trying to figure it out, but here's one interesting thing... the guy all the way on the left loses the top of his head in the second state. It becomes the top of someone else's head and he doesn't get it back. But how one small clump of hair becomes the 13th person is beyond my pre-coffee cognitive abilities.

Count the feet.
The second person in from the upper right initial state, loses only a slight portion of his/her feet, but still has enough to look like a full NEW set of feet. This is our 13th pair of feet. Now where does the new body come from, thats from the optical illusion generated by the slicing and dicing of everyone's body to some extend. So that when re-aligned the originals all look like a person, only slightly altered, and the person mentioned above in the first paragraph, looks like a full new body. ^_^ -sean |

I thought it was making one by shortening another, but I still can't really figure out what's happening. I noticed the hair thing too Chip...but it didn't help.
And I even took the thing apart in AnimationShop to see the frames individually, it didn't help! I've watched it slow, fast (don't do that, it gives you a headache), stared, yelled and lost my sanity over this. The best way to figure it out would be to "color code" each guy (I guess when there are 13 of them). Shade them each a different color and see how it ends up. But you'd have to carefully alter each frame to do this which would be a real pain. lol Either that....OR THE MATRIX IS REAL AND THIS IS AN ANOMOLY! THIS IS THE PROOF: *dies from agent attack* |

Interesting illusion.
I've attached a color-coded copy of the start and end states. Totaling the pixel size for each person, 859 is the result in both states, meaning the average pixel size of a person in the start state is 71.58 and the average pixel size of a person in the end state is 66.08. Each person loses an average of 5.5 pixels to the "new guy" during the transition. Am I bored? You be the judge. ^_^ |

Ah, crap Arito that doesn't even help! You wouldn't happen to be bored enough to animate it like that now would you? lol... still probably wouldn't help
I'm telling you, this proves it...the matrix is real, and this is an anomaly. Remember the first one? If Deja Vu is an anomaly in the matrix than this could be too. Just don't blame me when the agents show up because we're trying to figure this out. lol (btw no matrix 3 spoilers here please, or I'll...spam your email or something) |

looking at the color copy the teal guy by #77 moves and keeps his feet while also leaving a pair behind. The red guy #62 also sheds some hair but keeps enough so he looks whole. The purple guy #68 leaves his legs behind below the shorts but arrives in his new loc with purple legs. I didnt look at it much beyond that 'cause its really late and Im tired.
Seems to me they harvest bits to make a new whole but its difficult to really figure out. Very clever and well done! _____________________
