The preview grid had another first tonight at 8 pm, upwards of 25 people got together to watch a full length movie together simi-MST3k style.. I'm excited about this video technology coming in 1.6! I saw my first live stream in preview last night, Puppet Music videos by Fremont Cuningham, and then Godzilla tonight (we made it jsut in time)

I know a lot of people are interested in movies and I'm hoping we can do it again some time ;0

Someone should have screenshots here soon I hope ;)

Movie Provided by Nolan Nash, and hosting by myself Baba Yamamoto ;0

Attendees included several Lindens.. Nicole and Philip that I saw for myself ;)
Luskwood provided the space in lusk for the screening.. Michi, eltee and Liam thanks ;)

Feted Residents: Torley Togeson, Fleabite Beach, Misty Rhodes and others :)

If you atteneded please post so I can get all your names for my nefarious records ;) and the history Wiki!

Tons of fun! Looking forward to more. Great way to socialize and as Baba said, very much like MST3K, only on a grander scale!

****

Four stars!

By next month we will have the mid-stream pickups set up so anyone who enters will see the same section of video ;)

That makes it easier of MST3k

News at 11, 31/03/2005: 1.6 is here! Video Streaming onto prims! wheeeee!

News at 11: 1/04/2005: Thousands of residents of the virtual world Second Life today were looking for new virtual homes after the company behind it, Linden Lab of SF, closed its doors today following being served with a lawsuit by the Motion Picture Association of America on behalf of Paramount, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal City Studios and Warner Bros.

Linden Lab had argued that they do not host content, merely providing users the ability to stream video feeds into the virtual worlds where they are broadcast to residents, distancing itself from any responsibility for the content the users chose to display. P2P Software and service providers around the globe have used a similar defence, mostly unsuccessfully, in disclaiming their responsibility for the actions of file traders using their systems and networks.

The MPAA today confirmed it intended to target hundreds of individual users of Second Life for compensation for the illegally broadcasts works.

Of course, I'm kidding. It'd never happen :D

*cough*

I had it, but deleted it, to regain space on a cramped drive, but mostly because it was SO HORRIBLE! (even with the riffing) You'd have to pay me 5 billion L to watch it again. :D

Episodes I may or may not have (PM me to "confirm";):
- Robot Monster
- It Conquered the World
- Teenagers from Outer Space
- Santa Claus Conquers the Martians ("Hellooo-hellooo-hellooo!";)

And on a completely unrelated note, I have good upload capacity for things like, oh, 700MB files or whatever.

Finally, thanks Baba, Nolan, eltee, and anyone else who made this first showing happen. It was cool.

I vote for "The Screaming Skull", if not for anything but the Gumby short in the beginning.

TY Baba & Nolan for a great time. Now don't forget all the requests for future films *giggles*, especially mine (in case u needed reminding - Armaggedeon & Gremlins).

I enjoyed everyone's company there. This is something I am truly looking forward to in sl.

Love,
Misty

MAN IN SUIT! MAN IN SUIT! *giggle*

Awesome, Baba! I'm curious, though....exactly how much bandwidth did you need to support all those streams? I'd like to maybe show some cartoons or TV eps...but I'm learning that webhosting video streams can be cost-prohibitive.

I attended last night as well, though I spent most of my time making a new little object for Snapzilla :) It fits in somehow.

Manos, The Hands of Fate...
You Got Served...
Backyard Dawgs...
The Postman...

Man, this is going to be a blast.

Baba, just so ya know, I believe the sci-fi geeks have a theater set up with seating and all, MST3K style. Drop Chosen or Neural a message and see if they want to host!
