The continuity of malls has just come under discussion in one other thread. Malls come and go it seems. But all malls? Or are there places that are meant to stay, where you can sell for months or keep returning to as customer, keep visiting your favorite stores? So which are the malls/markets with history and continuity in Second Life? How long does your mall exist? I will begin with some locations I know: Centre Ville NetworkMahulu - July 2004 - no wipes Centre Ville Mall - Aug 2004 - moved to other sim once Nuba - Oct 2004 - no wipes Periwinkle Plaza - summer 2004 or earlier - no wipes Hanson - Oct 2004 - no wipes Lozi - Oct 2004 - no wipes Ross-Samoa - Dec 2004 - no wipes Other placesMidnight City - exists at least since early summer 2004 Mexican Mall - July? August? Rose Mall - existed for ages, is it still there? If yes, then it might be older than any malls I know Shinda Mall - Lisse's place. I think also exists since ages. Pyramid Mall - September? October? Let's add to this list

Aqua has some great stores, both old and new, and has been a great shopping sim for almost two years.

From: Anshe Chung How is Taber village, Pituca? Isn't it around some time too by now? Yes Anshe, it has been a year now. We first had the store for only the landholders, but then Garth and I decided on the village market stall concept. But it is not a mall, there are only 15 stalls there.

Indigo's been around for a year, the store for almost a year... first one was done by Crow last February I believe, with the current edition coming out around April.
No wipes or anything like that since April.

No wipes or anything like that since April. Corrects flippers often off sense of time frame. 8th Deadly Sin started around late May/ early June. We did the switch over to Mourning After in July.

After watching Taeja constantly battling with one mall after another shutting down every other day, I swore that I would not ever open up a store in any shopping area and just focus on my own store in Mavericks. I gave in however on Aasim and Mexican Town because both proved to be fantastic opportunities, and so far I have had excellent luck with both places. I have freestanding stores in both sims that I built myself - I doubt I would move into a shopping center where I didn't have that control over my place.

From: Anshe Chung Shinda Mall - Lisse's place. I think also exists since ages. Shaka Mall, but close enough. And yes, it's been around since June 2004 or so. Sadly neglected of late, but this will soon change! Here's a note I sent to my merchants a week or so ago: From: someone Hi! You are receiving this notecard because you are a member of the Shaka Mall group and currently or in the past sold items at the mall. This is to inform you of some important and exciting changes that the mall will be undergoing between now and December 31st. 1) There will be NO CHANGES to the space you are allocated. Although some building work will be undertaken, your items will remain in place throughout construction, and you will not need to visit to move them when the work is completed (although we hope you will come by!) 2) There will be NO RENT REQUIRED for mall space until January 1st, 2005. As most of you know, I've been a little lazy with rent collections anyway, and part of the changes coming up will include easier ways for you to be reminded of, and to pay your rent. Until then, you can stay rent free!!!! 3) Integration with SL Exchange and Gigas web-based shopping. Most of you will have heard of the two new shopping web sites that have just opened up. The Shaka Mall web site will allow linking to your store on these web sites, as well as linking to individual items. The categories you choose for your web-based store will carry over to the Shaka Mall web site merchant and item directories, as well as the new mall teleport system (see below) 4) The Shaka Mall web site will be improved and expanded, with searchable merchant and item directories. Whether or not you use one of the two web-based shopping sites as well, you will be able to provide your customers with information on your products on the web, for the times when they cannot get in-world, or for easier searching. (We will NOT be providing web-based sales capability.) You willl still be able to check your rent status online, and real-time rent payments will automatically update the web site to show you your new rent due date. 5) The mall structure will be rebuilt with optimal texture resolutions, better prim alignment and better building access. This will reduce lag and make for a smoother shopping experience for your customers. 6) The mall teleporter system will be replaced with a brand new, "straight to the store" system which will be accessible from outside each merchant space, and provide direct links to every merchant within the mall. The system will automatically be updated when new merchants move in, or old merchants vacate their space. Teleporting options will be divided by category to make it easy for shoppers to find the stores they are most interested in. If you've made it this far down the notecard, congratulations! Livingston Properties is dedicated to continuing to provide an effective and affordable venue for Second Life merchants to sell their goods. Although rent is waived until the first of the year, voluntary donations to help cover the renovations are always welcomed. --Lisse Livingston, Proprietor
