Where the hell is my backyard? Remember when Hiro was in the raft for a couple of days with the Mafia guys? When he wrote the cure for the Snowcrash virus and reaquainted himself to his motorcycle? Yeah. Well, that was part of the Metaverse, an offline mode for work and practice.
So, if SL is supposed to be the Metaverse, why can't I use it when I'm lost at sea with some Gumbas?

Yeah, I want a backyard. Maybe a 128x128m sim hosted on my own machine. When I'm offline I can still access it for testing purposes. When I'm online I can still access it but now things I build stick, that is, they stay in the database. And I could send and receive IM's. Even if no one else could visit my backyard that would be great. A private sandbox.
