I'm enjoying this a lot because they get to speak and speak and speak and a computer has to translate all for me.

My fingers feel much better now.

Have a nice day!

LOL Darwin, it's pretty funny. Okay here's some more gibberish for you.

Once upon the time the subplot about about the pot eight to go end she on the patient but the bird was following him so okay with.with a room of the wound and heard that should be sleeping with someone else. The father didn't approve this, so the dog capture became the King.

And that is my gibberish story. The end.

Eh..that one wasn't as funny. Damn software is actually learning as it goes along. Pfft.

Hehe...

What software are you using for this? I'd like to try mumbling a stream of complete non-words and see what it comes up with.

I tried IBM ViaVoice a while back. It was *very* frustrating. After "training" it for hours and enunciating clearly, it would still make dumb mistakes. So the last thing I did with it was dictate a letter to IBM to complain. Here it is...
From: someone
Dear IBM:

I have recently purchased the ViaVoice. And I'm becoming very conscious of the fact that everything nice say is not being dictated correctly.

I'm very disappointed in the software and fully intend to return of 4 full refund. The accuracy, if it can be called the, is beautiful. For example, the last sentence contains the word beautiful. It should have instead of said the proposal. I have no idea where this program is finding these words but it is nothing like Wednesday, or what I and say.

You have no idea how frustrating it can be to speak to the dictation device and not have that dictate what he's a. I notice that not one single sentence has been correct. If this is intended to be a time saving device that falls across the short of the mark. O Fokker!!

Hahah, Cubey, that's hysterical.

Voice to Text software has gotten much better over the years. I used IBM's Via-Voice many years ago, too....it was awful. It would NEVER work, and it could only be used with a few programs. This software works with EVERYTHING, even SL.

:)

I had to use Dragon Naturally Speaking for work a while back until they figured out it was never going to get any more accurate. Maybe with a $500 condenser mic and no ambient noise it would work better but as it was it only picked up our saltiest oaths. :)

Cubey....hahahaha

Good to know that my ma's transcriptionist job is safe... haha lame voice to text software. If they can't get "four" right (not even sure how they would unless they looked at sentence context), they sure as hell aren't going to get nasty medical terms right. Oh, god...could you imagine going to a doctor who uses this stuff to keep records?! You'd end up getting heart surgery instead of an x-ray! lol

It's especially funny since I can basically type about as fast as I speak. Geez. Time saving...right...

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Saving time is not why I use it. I use it because my back, shoulders, neck, and fingers all feel much better when I don't type. The software is gotten much better for the years, and it's much more accurate now. I'm writing this entire post using the voice-recognition software and I have edited it only very slightly.

Have a nice day! :-)

Has anyone tried the voice recognition included in office xp? i found it fairly intuitive after doing a few hours of exercises to calibrate it. I'm an Aussie and my accent actually seemed to help it a little.

Of course then my little bro (8) came over and tried it, of course wanted to see what it would come out with when I swore. Can't remember what it said but omg we were rolling around the floor laughing for hours

Try it James, you have my permission to act like an 8 year old. LOL

note: swearing in front of an 8 year old was for purely scientific purposes only.

My dad is an MD, used Dragon Naturally Speaking for a while to help with his transcription. No idea how accurate it is, but it must have been, given that he used it for longer than a few weeks. :D

I am using windows default software to write this post . It to the appears to work fairly well. I have not trained it at all . It is not quite as fast as typing is specially if you worried about it at having proper grammar . I'm saying the sentence as fast as I possibly can to still be understood by people and it has few errors . I have a Midwestern accent so that may help.

If only I could write code with this -smile -.

I tried this with I. R. C. as well. it works pretty well.

____

I made no keyboard corrections to the text above. I did use voice commands to correct a couple words in the last sentence. Below is the text as the software hears it with no corrections.
