Ops Blog...why isn't it updated more?

I just ran across a thread where Adam posted a pretty lil link to the ops blog.

http://secondlife.blogs.com/ops/

My question...why aren't we kept a bit more up to date on this? Second Life is filled with the highest percentage of geekish users of any MMO i've ever seen. Updates would be very much appreciated.

While I understand that hardware/software/gerbil failures are always to be expected, I'd appreciate a tad more insight as to what the actual problem is.

More info is always better.

Yeah. bump bump bump.

and you know we geeky users really need to form some kind of geek lobby.

Hell, what I want to know is why all the blogs aren't linked to on the secondlife.com website somewhere. In order to find these blogs, you basically have to go back months into the past and dig around in the annoucements forums.

There are geeks in SL?

P.S. Do geeks talk to each other in Latin?

P.P.S. Hi Pete!

Usefull links found on secondlife.com sign in page:

https://secondlife.com/news/blogs.php

https://secondlife.com/newsletter/

https://secondlife.com/support/wiki.php

https://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Bug+Queue
(bug queue)

https://secondlife.com/downloads/index.php

Some of those are more well known than others. The Blogs page lists all sorts of blogs, even some I never knew about untill finding that page. The Wiki page has the LSL wiki as well as a new Support Wiki (both are awsome). The Newsletter is helpfull if you aren't/don'twantto sign up for the newsletter (but its not updated periodicly, more spurodicly). Bug Queue is brand spankin knew as far as I know, not sure how much this will be updated. Finaly we have the downloads page, theres a bran new Avatar Files page there with models and such to use as well as other helpfull things.

I think it'd be awsome if they could update this stuff more as well, I too love seeing how things are going and being kept up to date on progression, as both a LSL developer (where it pays to know when stuff is going to change) and as a general snoopy person who likes to know stuff.

I figure they're either A) Busy B) Forget C) Too busy talking on IRC or D) all of the above.

I guess i'm looking for some 'non-official here's what's broke thread'

While I do like reading Phil and Robin's announcements, they seem watered down to me. Kinda seem like this is what we want you to hear posts, rather then what actually happened.

Public relations is important in any business, but sometimes telling your customers the truth should be a priority.

'Sub optimal routing' can only be the excuse so many times before you should spill the beans.

I guess maybe they're ignorant as to users having knowledge of such technology, as to how we can help them improve their software/hardware.

We'd only like to try and help make Second Life a better place and help as much as we can.

Is why we ask for more technical reports.
