Hey anyone else noticed how many of those Stage 4 areas there are? There's at lot, I think one or more in every sim. Some are in nice senic areas too. So why is the Stage 4 Dore one so popular. Lets get some events going on in other areas to get a change of environment

Dore is popular for mentor events because it's visible from the welcome area. Noobs teleport in, look around, and one of the first things they see is a crowd of people at Stage4.
I finished prelude just as an event was starting at Stage4. Met a few people, asked a few questions, saw some nifty Av attachments, etc.

I've noticed over the past couple of days that they have been scheduling some of the mentor events at some of the other locations like Perry and Ahern.
And well, the events not at Stage 4 Dore have been, well, dead.
Holding events at Stage 4 seems to be the only way to have good population numbers for it right now.

I could be wrong, but the Bonifacio/Dore stage is Stage 4. The other stages have different numbers. I don't know what the others were named, because hardly anyone uses them.
In nearly 4 months of SL I have been to one event that was held at a different stage. I can't remember the specifics, but I think me, Kanker and Pituca found the Deharo stage that day.

There's also the point that some of the other stages are inside 1 sim, while Dore is in 2 sims.
But i think the proximity to the welcome area is the biggest factor in how well attended they are. That, and tradition ;P
I think Darwin had a couple of events at the Teal amphitheater, and then there're the Linden town halls that were also held there.
If this sounds disjointed, it's because I'm caffeine-less.

I thought it was Stage 4 because the seats are in 4 sections. And saying that you only get good crowds if you use Dore is one of those self-fulfilling prophacies. If everyone believes it, of course it will be true. Anyhow, I posted this because I realize I dont explore very much. I pretty much stick to Rose and Dore 90% of the time. If we want people seeing more of the world a good step would be to force them to go to new places for events

Stage 4 use to sit on a 4 corners section not too far from where it's located today. They moved it when they revamped the welcome area to see if they could make the flow a little bit easier for newer players experiencing difficulty finding everything around. Alternateive, semi-popular choices are the ampitheaters located in Perry or Teal. However, a lot of recurring events (SL Basics, New Commer's Night, etc) are required to be held at stage 4... so naturally it becomes a popular area. When I can, I try not to hold events at stage 4 becuase I agree that there are a lot of other scenic areas out there that are so unused or untapped.

It was in the chat ring of DeHaro.

I stand corrected. It was the campfire near the Deharo stage. I think that was the first day I noticed that Deharo had a stage.
Since Stage 4 seems to be the main destination for events, I wonder why the Lindens put a small Telehub over the Welcome Area instead of the large vresion?

Well put Water about the move of Stage4 and then name.
As the population grows we intend to have other locations for mentor events by other entrance points, for now Stage4 is a great location easily seen by the Welcome Area.
We encourage any resident to step up and host events and anywhere in world! Grab a Liaison and ask about how to host an event and we'll get you on that path. We love to see the creativity!
Thanks!

I've been wondering about why we should be expected to do events there; it's not like the newbs can't go everywhere, now. The stage in Plum, for instance, is on four sims, the way Dore USED to be, so I'd bet trivia and other events work out a lot better lag-wise. The idea of having events at Stage 4 near the welcome area is that they will attract trial users before they learn how to deal with teleporting. Many trial users complained that when they appear at the welcome area, they don't see anyone around. This is one way to address that.

Having the "right" to go everywhere is a completely different thing from knowing how to get somewhere, or even figuring out where that somewhere is.
