Ok I know this game is still in early Beta, I hardly call it a game cause you don't really do game-like things. My question is, when will they be making the game available for a longer period of time. As in I'm on the East coast and I must wait till 7 pm before the game opens up. Being I have to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to go to work I can only be on the game for 1 hour, not much time to screw around with it. Anyone know when either public beta will start or if they plan on making the game available for longer play time? I'm not in a rush really just curious cause this game does some really strange stuff at times.

Neo, when ever they can leave the grid unattended they will open it 24\7. But for now the down time is time for them to test out their stuff. But don't worry the hours will be eventualy extended.

I definitely agree here. As someone accessing SL from a GMT time zone I would love to have som extra time.
Currently for me the world switches on at midnight so I have to have some pretty late nights and i only get an hour or two to build/socialise before bed beckons. I know I'm not alone here as there are two other Scottish players that I can think of easily. Berry. |

The further east you go the worst it gets, I have to get up rather early to drive my wife in to work and it leaves little time for me to play ... =0( Sooner or later it will all work out though so chin up guys.

I'm in EST as well and I know it would be helpful if the game opened up earlier...it already ends late enough for those east of PST so need to extend in that direction. Even an extension of 2hours to 2pm PST would be greatly appreciated on my end.

So let's go the other dicection......
(I know, the poor kid in Hawaii is complaining again)...hehe I'm 2 hours BEHIND Pacific time. The world opens at 2PM my time, which is in the middle of the work day, and closes at 8PM. Buy the time I get home from work, eat, help with the clean-up, I usually have the last 1 1/2 to 2 hours to "play". That is really really nice, because I'm not loosing sleep like the poor people on the east coast, but by the time I do get logged in, most of the east coast people are gone. There are people I know who come to SL that I rarely, if ever, get to see. I think the times that SL is open are a pretty good compramise, but I can't wait till I can be here when ever I want. _____________________

(Many ppl think i'ma secret Linden) The hours will be extended when ever the grid (allt he server) are stable enough to run unattended. I wouldn't want to make poor *insert name* Linden stay until 5 am! (int he insert name probably Andrew, Phoenix, Doug, James, Richard) The Lindens do not know when this will be possible, only time and more playing will tell. I like the hours, the Lindens are able to work on the game during the day brining us updates (I don't knwo about you... but this is the fastest growing game I have ever seen!) So when ever they are ready to extend they will! P.S. on a little side note (insider info) I heard that they are suppose to extend the time by 2 or 4 hours (split both ways, IE 3 to 11 or 2 to 12). Guys please be patient! PLEASE! _____________________

personally the hours work good for me the way they have them, i get on late and stay on as long as i can after log in goes down, being in est this lets me log on when i want and not have to worry, i can even go out and as long as im home by 1am i can still sneak in some SL.

Nexus your exuse doesn't fly dear. There is no reason they can't open up the server, your negotiation of the topic at hand is backward. They need to start being more liberal with our playtimes to further stress test the server and see it fuctionality and limitations.
It just crashed on all of us tonight right after the log in time expired. If there was a problem during off peek hours when the Lindens were not available then there would be one result: We wouldn't be able to log back on. Sometimes it just jumps, happens on every game. Then players could resume normal activites. In retrospect, I think it would only benefit the developers to see how the server handles fluid traffic instead of "lifting the bridge after four hours so no more cars can pass." It can't be for fear it will crash, we do that now sometimes, and it's not typically catastrophic. Anyway, I'm having a wonderful time, being on the East Coast limits my playtime a great deal but I am making great progress, have opened up my own texture shop and art gallery and have met legions of wonderful people! Usually it works pretty well for me, although I usually would like it to be open a little earlier
. It closes at a perfect time, I need my sleep anyways, but it opens right around dinner time for me. *sigh* if it cant be changed, so be it, but I think that the longer you have people playing the more bugs will probably be found. Isn't that the whole purpose of a beta test? ![]() |

They have their reasons for not opening the servers more than they already are, don't let it cause undue stress in your life. Once the reasons are gone, they will open the world, its what they did in alpha, it is what they will do in beta.

I want more hours NOW!!! lol
but hey, a few hours of SL are better than no hours of SL ![]() I'm just thankful they havent had a reason to cut back the hours. ponder that, and pray for stable servers with me ![]() _____________________

Been there done that, I don't suppoe you were there when I lost my physics set o wheels, they went bouncing from server to ser (about 5 in total) and when ever they entered the server, physics FPS would drop to 0.1. Just stuff like that, the lindens already KNOW thelimits of their servers. and this game will not get any better by extending the hours... when do you think they work on it? They will open the world when it's ready... they still have stack loads of bugs to work out... and it's not by letting us play more that they will progress faster. I have been in countless beta where the devs sinply give the game a swift kick in the ass out the door.... well these games (99% of the time) sucked ass! The Lindens are doing a wonderfull job and a favor to let us play 7 days a week. I don't care how much time the hours are like this... as long as the finished product kicks ass!!! _____________________

Hello All
My 2 cents: 1. It's a BETA 2. It's FREE I'll take what they give us and be happy for now! I have been in other game beta's and please believe me, these guys are doing an incredible job compared to some others I have been involved with! You can tell it is being done by a great group of people who love what they are doing. They have plenty of time to become successful and have the bean counters come in and destroy the game later on Enjoy what you have for now and try to support them. |

Even though I am in GMT +1 and its 1 am before I get to play - nice when you know you have to be up and awake before 8
Ok you're right, I can also get up at 5 am and play 2 hours - but to me... that is NOT an option lol I just left a game that was open 23.5/7 during their BETA testing and seriously - they still after release, have some of the same bugs appearing. Seemed to me they never had time to fix them all. Or was it lack of knowledge? I find the Linden way much more professional and so much more promising... so far ![]() _____________________

Well said Sturm.
We are Beta Tester here to support Linden Lab in making SL become 1 of the best virtual worlds. Maybe they will open the hours once we get closer to release. Say a month or 2 before the release date in order to stress test the servers. In any case, I happy with whatever choices they make. As long as they don't make promises they cant keep and adverstise features that take 6 months to implement. I'm sorry, had a TSO flash back. ![]() In my opinion Linden Lab is heading in the right direction by keeping the hours limited in order to fix bugs, amp servers, etc. I think Nexus Nash said it best. "They will increase the hours when they are ready to do so. Be patient!" Ra |

In a lot of ways I wish the game was open more BUT I'd rather have it right than rushed. I think LL is heading down the right path. In my experience they have been very available and responsive. Keep up the good work! _____________________
