Inventory and Lag

Ok I have been trying an experiment with my inventory after a Year in SL I have a lot of stuff and sub folders apparently are not cutting it.

Pahoa Jade mentioned to me that Harold Nomad and his companion take everything in their inventory and sort of store them in boxes which they leave inworld.

Sooo, I tried one more version of this same concept and have conceiveably speeded up my down load process.

I took each sub folder and dumped the contents in a box...then took that box and picked it up and continued to do this till I had all the sub folders under a primary folder in boxes.

Then I made a box labeled the primary folder and dropped the previous sub folder boxes in to the primary folder box.

Once I tested and checked and made sure that I had everything working in and of the boxes. I deleted the additional folders. all the way to where I just had one box in my objects folder. One box in my clothes folder and so on.

I only left Items out that were daily use Items I have noted a dramatic increase in my log on time and my rez time when I walk into a new area. I also now have my inventory semi organized.

I dont know if anyone else has this massive lagg but I am sure its due to Serious multiple Items in inventory.

Another thing to note...cleaning out the trash and the lost and found helps emensly also.

I tried this a few weeks ago by putting all of my textures (I have a LOT) in boxes - except for the ones I'm using - and it seemed to help a good bit with loading time and lag, but I also spend more time hauling out textures, so i guess it all balances out. I was going to do it with inventory but just wound up deleting half my inventory which I never used anyway.

thanks for the suggestions. i does make a huge difference.

and dont forget to empty your trash.

New Update. I continued on my quest last night and realized that I have Multiple copies of just about everything. However in 5hrs more of going through old stuff I have come across more stuff I deleted than I kept. I have rebooted in game several times and I must say in all honesty my Inventory upload is down to 20 seconds from the time the release bar lets me start moving inworld.

By this friday I hope to have everything totaly organized and my upload times down to less than 10seconds from the inventory upload bar release.

Final update on my behalf...my test seems to have been a success with repeated log on attempts and almost instant inventory upload ...no waiting for that familure THUMP of your inventory comming in world..Good luck everyone my work is done...hehe

But dont you loose those 20 seconds you saved loging in to bringing out boxes and parsing though them for stuff?

I think that we should just request a 'feature' in that the lindens re-vamp the invenory system so it does whatever is accomplished by boxing stuff.

(Not that your info dosnt rock shadow, I'll probably do that with my realy old stuff once i get home)
