Questions About New Land in 1.2

Since in 1.2 your monthly fee entitles you to an amount of land this raises a few issues.

1. Your monthly fee is your land entitlement. It means you have paid for the right to use that much land and it better be available when you want it.
Issue: Not everyone will use all the land they buy the rights to. Will the total land area reflect the total amount of land the playerbase is entitled to? That is, will there always be enough land available to cover entitlements or are we trading prim shortages for land shortages?

2. We've been told we will be billed based on the peak land use in the previous 30 days. This means our land use is not capped. It only means if we use more than our current entitlement we will be charged more. Anyone can buy as much land as they have L$ to cover at any time.
Issue: Will new land be added regularly based on the number of new subscribers? As I read the changes anyone can buy all the land they can afford with Linden money. They are not prevented from buying more land than their
entitlement, however doing so will increase their monthly fee at the next billing period. If new land is not added regularly we face the possibility of large numbers of people buying land to increase their entitlement and running out of available land because the current available land was based on current monthly fees.

3. Currently if you buy land then cancel your account your land remains tied up for at least a month.
Issue: Now that land rights cost real money, how long will land remain tied up after a person stops paying real money for its use?

4. We're told that our prim usage will be limited to the same proportion of a sim's object limit as the proportion of a sim that we own.
Issue: How does this account for rezzing an object in a sim in which you own no land? Is land ownership required in order to take advantage of the prims you are entitled to based on your land entitlement? For example, if I'm entitled to 1/16 of a sim's land and prim limit but I only own 1/64 of a sim worth of land do I get to use 1/16 of a sim worth of prims or am I limited to 1/64 until I buy more land?

5. It is not yet clear whether prim usage is determined entirely by monthly fee entitlement or also depends on land ownership, nor is it clear how the location of owned land would affect prim use.
Issue: What if I'm entitled to 1/16 of a sim and thus 1/16 of a sim's prim limit but I own 1/64 in this sim and 1/64 in another sim. Can I use my full 1/16 prim allowance in either sim or do I get only 1/64 here and 1/64 there? If the former, what prevents four 1/4 sim players from using their 1/4 sim prim limits in a sim they own no land in and thus use up that sim's prim limit before the resident land owners can build something? If prim usage depends on land ownership how can we ever rez an object in a sim in which we don't own land?

And just out of curiosity... We've been told we will be billed for our peak land use in the previous billing period. Are we stuck with the 1/128, 1/64, 1/32, 1/16, etc. progression or could we be billed for 1/56 or 1/7? If we're stuck with the powers-of-two progression, does that mean one 4x4 plot above 1/32 of a sim bills you for 1/16 of a sim?

These two questions were answered in another thread:

- You can rez objects such as attachments, vehicles, and bullets freely, however, these will vanish or be returned to your inventory if you get too far from them.
- The number of permanent prims you can have in a sim is limited by the amount of land you own in that sim.
