Wow what a different 10 or 11 hours can make! Thank you Lindens for your continuing announcements re: the current log-in problems! Please keep up these efforts during this difficult time - I'm certain many of us find it reassuring.

Couldn't agree more Merwan. Just helps to have them post and read it, even if doing so won't get you online any faster Keep it up guys. Thanks for taking time out of your weekend for us.

From: Goyan Luchador And a lot more of us don't, I'm sure. Still can't get in. Ain't about you and me can't get it - it's about LL providing it's customer base with ongoing information re: what's happening and how they're dealing with the situation. _/_/

It really is about me getting in. *grins*
But in all seriousness, the announcements the linden labs has been giving are nothing more that any good business would do. Thgey are trying not to alientate us all by kleeping us uin the dark. this not really comendable, this is neccessary. So yes LL has done the minimun in keeping us informed. Fixing the problem is one way to appease disgruntled customers.
Releasing 1.6.5 early was a good step and I applaud them. MY understanding is ther eis no guarantee that 1.6.5 will fix the problem though. At least LL should be applauded for making a major update when noone can get on anyway.
LL clearly wants to keep its new player base interested, the posts in every forum show that. Alas I fear three weekend days of no access will drive many new players away, and no doubt some old ones.
We shall see what steps LL takes in the way of customer service to recompense the community. I would personally like to see active steps taken to solve the problem. If this mean inventory limits or storage boxes, then they should implement it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are planning on updating the Second Life grid to 1.6.5 tomorrow morning, Monday May 16, starting at 6:30 AM. Therefore, Second Life will be down for update from 6:30 am until 12:00pm PST. See below for the 1.6.5 Release Notes.
Second Life 1.6.5(5) May 16, 2005 ===============================
* Attachments save on teleport only if they have changed since the last teleport or login. Scripted attachments always save. * The "Stop" button for animation steps in the gesture window works again. * Land in estates can no longer be set for sale. * You cannot buy a parcel for L$0 unless you are the authorized buyer. * You cannot find a L$0 parcel in the directory unless you are the authorized buyer. * Text hovering over objects set with the LSL script command llSetText() now correctly wraps at 1000 pixels instead of 300. * Replaced the "nice snapshot" in the Library photo album. * Find places will only return visible land. * Edit tools window now correctly remains minimized while walking. * Fixed bug where idle/away from keyboard residents would not be logged out for inactivity. * Fixed a performance problem with certain QuickTime media streams.

I'm hoping folks will be patient if this morning's upgrade takes longer than stated. It is NOT unusual for that to happen, so continue to relax, have fun, and catch up on your FL.

Important Announcement
05-16-2005 16:34
From Doug Linden: Today, Monday, 3:37pm (1537) "Don't quit if Second Life is not responding! Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows that if the Second Life client is "Not responding" according to the operating system, you should NOT force quit the client. There is a problem with the HTTP library that we're using during login that causes it to hang our client completely occasionally - closing the client at this point will just cause you to go to the back of the login queue. The changes that we've made in 1.6.5(7) should make you much more likely to make it through the login process, even if it may take a longer amount of time. We will hopefully get this problem fixed in a future release. - Doug"
