I am sure most has seen the e-mail, but I will post a copy below just in case... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Last week we suffered a two-day period (from 12/29 wednesday PM through 12/31 friday PM) where very few people were able to log into Second Life, due to a failure in a database disk. We are going to issue a two day credit to all users who pay recurring fees (those with premium accounts and those who own land) to cover this period. The credit will be equal to 2 days of your estimated monthly fees, which is calculated as the sum of your monthly premium fee and your projected land tier fees on the amount of land that you own as of today. This credit will be deducted from your next recurring payment. Your specific credit can be viewed by visting your account section on the Second Life website. Again, we apologize for the interruption last week. There are more upgrades underway to both hardware and software - as we continuously improve the reliability and performance of Second Life. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I guess I only have two questions concerning this.... 1) How will players who paid for a full year be compensated? 2) How will private island owners be compensated? Please no flames here... There are valid questions

Does that answer your question? Whatever your 'estimated' (whatever that means, are SL using fuzzy logic for invoicing? *grin*) monthly fees are, they'll deduct approx 2/30ths of that from your next recurring payment, which if you pay yearly, will be in up to a year's time. If that doesn't apply directly to island owners, surely they'll extend it to them.

From: Prong Thetan I guess I only have two questions concerning this.... 1) How will players who paid for a full year be compensated? 2) How will private island owners be compensated? Please no flames here... There are valid questions 1. You still pay your tiers monthly and it seems that since they are targeting only those with premium memberships who own land, i took this statement as 2/30ths of your monthly fees (i.e. tier fees + sucscription fees). 2. Private sim owners pay a full sim tier fee per sim do they not? I anticipate your yearly fees are only for your subscription. You are still billed monthly for tier fees with a private sim.

It would have been better IF they included the word private island as well. As an island owner, I am billed differently, and technically have a single tier... 195 USD / month.

I own 1/2 a sim on the mainland, and have a single tier monthly too. How are you billed differently?

Sorry if this was not clear from the intitial annoucement, the account credit includes but is not limited to Private Island owners. It doesn't include times when a particular Private Island was down outside of these two days.
Also, the timing of the credit depends on when your monthly billing hits, as it will be deducted from your next recurring payment. Your specific credit can be viewed by visting your account section on the Second Life website.

Private islands are billed on a recurring $195.00 fee outside of tier, so you can have a $40 tier, and a $195 island, and they will both be billed seperately, potentially on different days. -Adam
