I'm also eagerly awaiting 1.1. Although, I think having the system back up and running by 6pm is a bit optimistic! ;)

Either way... what leads you to believe that we may have more land come available? Are you talking new sims? Do you have a good source? Speak! :D

If anything, I think the Telehubs and removal of free random teleportation will definitely shake up SL for about 3 months.

Things will start to look a bit more organized and planned... businesses will cluster around telehubs, vying for landspace and attraction of customers... homes will end up farther away, from all the hubbub.

At least, this is how it SHOULD be. A more natural urban planning will develop along the "avenues" of Telehub stops... business in the center, subburbs out in the middle of nowhere.

Most likely some entreapaneurs will snatch up the surrounding land and make big buildings for multiple businesses to use..

I'm excited :D I love urban planning.

This makes me think of my own area of the world, what I like to call the Northeast.

:P

I live in Mocha, which is very close to the Mauve central telehub. In fact I used to own the land directly beside the Telehub, but I moved to a better location at Mocha Bay near Lake Lime.

However, that is the ONLY telehub in the northeast, and I believe it's the only telehub in the entire northern area of SL.

Slate is a fair distance from the telehub in Mauve, as are Teal and Sage. They're all good areas that will benefit from thier distance.

In my case, my location is very good for my mysterious and confusing plans.

My base in Mocha is right on the sim's border, next to a federal park, and the beautiful lake Lime. It's in an excellent spot to launch ISBMs, Inter-Sim-Ballistic-Missiles. It's directly beside Olive, giving me easy access to my favorite hangout. And the neighbors are friendly.

Some predictions I can make? More animals. You'll see what I mean soon enough, Kya ha ha. :)

Final note, I was told that the reason there will be more land available is because many players use a certain cheat in order to avoid paying taxes on thier land. This cheat won't work any longer after 1.1 so they'll either have to spend a lot of money or give up a lot of thier land.

Fortunately for me, I didn't know about this cheat to begin with, so I only took as much land as I felt I required for my lab/fortress.

The 'cheat' was land swapping. People would sell there land to each other for 1 dollar just before tax day to avoid land taxes. Not actually a cheat however cause it wasn't against the TOS, and the Lindens turned a blind eye to it. With the advent of 1.1 this will no longer work for 2 reasons. First, everybody will be taxed on the same day. Second, you will be taxed for the average of each day of the week instead of the status of your account just b4 tax time.

Isn't there one in Lime, over the unused welcome area? Can't remember now... (now there are two sims begging to be used!)

Well for one thing with the new modifications to SetRot() it will be possible to simulate joints, making realistically animated animals a possibility. :)

Yeah..there is a Hub in Lime but what was also heard the Welcome area there may become the central entrance..just from what I heard.. Oh and Relee..Hope you share some of those animal secrets with me..Or you will have rent.lol..just kidding.. But as Relee said..great place to live in Mocha and will only get better. But we look at 1.1 as being a form of Messiah, coming to save us all. We should just wait and see what it will really hold for us. So far..Setting Textures to be locked is like needing a Masters degree in confusion..So if anyone figures that out..Watch the World get a lot of new original designs.

Peace,

Another advent Groups will get more organized and structured like me for instance I am dropping all of the groups I am in when I get in world except for Mentor and Instructor. My new group will be the one with my store family.

The reason I say this. I am not paying all y'alls taxes on group land to be a part of a group just for a name.

Another thing I dont think land will free up as much as people think however I do believe that a lot of land will instantly become group land and forced to rely on the multitude of members of that group to pay for that land. Well except for those members that the officers of the group feel do not contribute enough to be penalized by taxation or rewarded by surplus cash.

Hmmm so why do we need the entrepenural exchange of land we don't with group land now.

With group land Couples can actually benifit as a couple. Businesses with multiple partners can benifit with an equaled shared loss or gain on community property.

I agree this is going to be an adventure and a true bonding or breaking of friends. The Fauceted clicks of ole will die out rather quickly when a person realizes that with 6 or 7 groups they are paying more in taxes than their own Items accumulate to and you will see a trend of the groups falling off and growing back slowly.

Group Memberships (Fees) will become a requirement because now you won't just want anyone to be able to mess around on group land without having some semblence of control.

Yes the leaderboards will change but it will be because the "cheats" of old will have been stifled and the hard working artesians, (builders, scripters, texturers, planners) and the like will start to rise and gain noteriety as they deserve.

I am all for 1.1 I welcome it with open arms I can't wait to see what happens as it shakes the very foundation of SL.

Good luck my friends and may we all prosper and share in the new found wealth of the new world its gonna be a bumpy ride but in the end I think it will be fun.

The modifications to llSetRot() are the same as the modifications to llSetPos()

In other words, instead of POOF the object is in a different rotation, you actually see it move to that rotation. I did some testing on the demo server and I was able to make a simulated joint.

My prediction is that we will all be flying around crashing into the annoying new blocked land warning barriers that lsuddenly pop up and look like electric cattle fences, and give me flashbacks to There. Setting access permissions on land was a good idea in theory, but the implementation will change the open feel of SL I'm afraid. Other than this one caveat about 1.1, I am incredibly excited about the changes.

I thought a group had to be 3 or more members?

Would be great if it was just 2, couples could use groups

One funny thing I noticed is that anyone in leadership positions can change the names of subsidaries in the group without a check. I personally think it's a bad idea, but I had fun in 1.1 preview confusing people by randomly changing their titles.

Oh, that.

Does anyone know if the child object rotation bug has been fixed?

removal of self teleportation?
10-21-2003 14:42
Removal of self teleportation? That has to be the dumbest move ever, I have played this game for like 3 weeks and have lagged into places I cant get out, have flown into hollow structures and some how ended up stuck inside. I dont want to have to wait for a liaison to come help me every time this happens.
