Vehicle recommendation for roads?

I decided I'd like to explore SL by road this morning. Tried riding various bikes (my preferred mode of transport), and couldn't ever get more than about 20m before either disappearing underground, getting stuck in the walls, or otherwise killing the vehicles due to lag.

At which point the physics dies, they need to be deleted, re-ressed... but you can't res on a road, so you have to res it somewhere else, edit it onto the road, ride it, and then 20m later it all happens again...

Can anyone recommend any vehicle which works usefully, and is hopefully fun at the same time, on roads?

y0 Freya... I'm currently quite fond of Shiryu Musashi's Toyota Supra TT MKIV. Reason is because it has its own sort of mechanism that counteracts sim crossing glitches. I have to do more extensive testing but it has worked well thus far for the most part. Main shop is Anton (90, 165). Test drives are available too @ Bruin (26, 96), and I hope Shiryu can further explain how exactly this technology works -- it seems to dig your car out of a thin road if it detects it gets stuck. :)

I suspect it is something that could be applied to other vehicles effectively...

You explained it quite well Torley, it simply detects when the vehicle is not physics anymore (thing that happen when a physic item penetrates into another one) and moves it in the most common unsticking direction (up) and turns it physics again. If the vehichle is still stuck it will immediately return non physics and the process will be repeated until it's freed and ready to run again.
And yes, this can be applied to every vehicle in SL, as far as i know Cereal Milk has something similar on his great cars :)

In addition to this my supras (and soon my next cars) are equipped with some features (sequential transmission and dynamic steering) that makes them driveable even in high lag conditions.

Anyway welcome between the pilots of SL, Freya ^_^ If you need any further info just drop me an IM ^_^

Thanks Shiryu... I should also mention you have good pricing (something you pointed out to me yourself, LOL) -- L$380 for the base models IIRC... I mean, what's with that number? Is it a specific reference to anything? ;)

Oh no.... its just that in my small own world 350 seemed too low, 400 seemed too high and well... 375 seemed too complex lol.

For the record, I reckon it's worth every Linden Cent.

It looks fantastic.

The best thing I've found to explore the roads with is the bicycle that they gave away in Olde London... you rez it on yourself so you can rez it at any time and you go slow enough to see everything around you :D

Talen, good idea! Were those bikes copyable - if so, please drop one on me... I didn't get one at the time 'cos the dresses were just too big :-)

I don't think they are copyable and or they were no transfer but I'm sure someone can get you one...I'll find out who created it ( can't remember at the moment ) and look into it for ya :D
