A dream or a nightmare?

Ok, weird poll based on a weird dream...

Couldn't fit the whole question, so here it is...

If by some freak accident, just like right out of a Marvel Comic Book, you were sucked into SL and could not go back to RL for say 5 years, would you be happy / could you live with it or would you be miserable?

Understand that nobody in the game would believe that you were trapped in-world from real life and that you could leave a simple note to your family saying that you'd be back in five years (as not to worry them to death), but with no mention where you were going (not that they would believe it anyway).

So as far as the poll question goes:

Could you be a 'full-time' citizen of SL for five years?

If you agree to the above conditions, YES. If you don't, NO.

Worry them?! ... they would throw a party!

5 years being downrated for 'lying' about being stuck in sl, constantly being fired 4000m into the air by random objects, attending weddings and the ultimate divorce in the same day... Pure hell!

NO (maybe if I could commit some kind of sl suicide?)

What happens when a sim crashes, or the grid is taken down?

Can I eat prim food? Would I even need to eat at all?

Would I be able to achieve orgasm from AV sex?

Would the Lindens be able to ban me?

Would I still be able to rez and create or would I have to live in the world as it was provided by others?

Yea good stuff your smokin, now puff, puff, pass........... And the only way I could handle it is if SL lasted for anothe 5 years. Don't want to wind up somewhere where I might go 'poof' one day... :) Oh shit, thats right, it might happen in the real world. Hmmmm, perhaps we all are in a "game" so to speak already? LOL

Haha. You crazy Mexican! I voted yes, I could so do it. I prolly wouldn’t know the difference. I already look for people’s names above their heads and experience lag in RL. That distinction is already blurred in my THC laced mind. :D

Only reason for me voting no is that I could not go five years without having companionship or friends who *really* cared for me. After a lot of lurking, it seems it is rare that someone takes their Second Life relationships seriously. Just because they're playing a game, those they come in contact with aren't significant, only entertainment. Treated more like a NPC than someone playing a game. It would be a nightmare for me, I couldn't stand being degraded for five years in succession. :( ( degraded, as in not treated like a human being )

Otherwise, I would enjoy the creative freedoms and fun easily available to me. But fun is a very small portion of my happiness.

Yeah I could... I haven't spoken to my family for about that length of time anyways. And before that I was known to take not contact people for a couple of years at a time anyways.

And besides, I have more fun on a flying toilet than I do at work anyways.

And for Teeny - if the sim crashes we can play truth or dare in the user server, or peek around the asset server and change the colors on peoples genitals -- it would be a hoot!

Siggy.

*hugs you* There are many folks out there in SL that are true to themselves and others. I try and always remember that there is a very real person behind each AV.

I found the opposite to be true. I've only been in the game since August. During that short period of time, I met a couple of wonderful and caring ladies that I would have loved to have met in another place, another time.

However, being married in RL, I feel that there is an invisible line that I should not cross even in the game. Not easy sometimes, but it has to be respected. Once it is crossed, it is extremely difficult to go back without someone getting deeply hurt.

Unfortunately, many times it is difficult being emotionally close to someone of the opposite sex without real or imagined issues popping up all over the place. It really blows because I have always found women to be much better friends than men.

So Ryntha, there are a lot of good people out there! You will find them where and when you least expect it.

I think you hang out with the wrong people. :(

I could easily spend my days in SL. If I didn't have to go to work, I probably would anyway :P

I would especially appreciate 5 years in SL if I could bring my skills and abilities to RL when I left.
