on friday inside mac games said that the mac client for SL went gold... did it? usually they are a few days behind on announcing SL updates and i haven't received an updated client, or heard anything in the forums. so... Lindens... are congratulations in order? cause i would be very happy to hear that all us mac users are finally gonna get out of beta :D

*giggle*

My husband got a little freaked when he saw that "beta" thing on the installer when downloaded for the first time last month. I explained it had been out for OSX for over a year... ;D

But everytime something goes wrong, he blames "that damned beta software!"

Maybe this means there's an update in the pipeline which has the gold status...?

Hope they fix the problem with the Nvidia 6800 Ultra card so I can wear attachments again without all the graphics going completely berserk. Pretty please ? ;)

Otherwise I have to say its been the most stable beta software I've ever used !

As long as they fix that bug that enables and checks Use Avatar Vertex Program when it really shouldn't. I am tired of having to help Mac users who have suddenly found their avatar has gone all spikey with their head in their groin....

I actually helped a friend who was about to lay out money on a brand new Powerbook because his iBook stopped displaying avatars after the last update. I told him to try unchecking AVP, and it solved the problem. Saved him $2500 in the process.

Nope, haven't heard anything. I actually rarely see any mention of SL in Mac media, so I would tend to notice it. Probably doesn't make much difference now, except the official status won't say "beta."

This is what the LL news letter Nov. 2004 vol. 2 said about this...

After months in Beta, Second Life for Macintosh OSX.3 is officially available for download. Mac loyalists have a well-deserved reputation for artistic talent, which pretty much makes them perfect candidates for Second Life. Residents skilled in Photoshop®, Poser ®, and other Mac-friendly tools are highly valued by the community, because these skills are directly translatable into innumerable in-world projects, from architecture to custom animations to fashion. And there's already a large welcome wagon, waiting for them: one of Second Life's biggest support groups is the aptly-named Macintosh Users.

I got the newsletter, said "oh goody," went to the download page -- and  it's the same old SecondLifeBeta_1_5_7.dmg.
