This forum has seen its share of rants, and an overabundance of haranguing. However, this forum is desperately short of objurgations. Please support this forum and donation and contribute an objurgatory post.

If you expect people to do a proper job of objurgating you really should provide clarity on the word! I personally had to look this one up and since you were not kind enough to provide I will do it for you!

objurgate tr.v. To scold or rebuke sharply; berate.

As you can see, the Lindens included this word in the title to explain their own occasional need to say, "now, now children".
It is not intended for your casual use and you should not encourage it any more!

You quoted a reply to a post that was said in joking, in the spirit of this thread - the reply was a joke as well. There is nothing at all bad in this thread - if this is what is keeping you away from SL, it is perhaps that you see things only as black and white right and wrong, not the subtleties or humor that go on constantly in SL.

Regnar's the one who (dead seriously) berated me for not acting like a 'proper lady', and declared that the women on SL should learn to act like 'proper ladies', and learn some manners, re: the 1.2.7 Miss Muffett sit-capade. The only thing his comment was missing was the suggestion that all female avatars be required to carry a parasol and speak in the third person. I believe that's objurgation, and wholly within the scope of this forum.

In turn, I hereby sharply rebuke that remark.

Enjoy your break, Regnar. Perhaps when a simulator opens up where everyone fans their face and exclaims "My heavens!" whenever someone utters "language unbecoming of a gentleman", you can come on back, top-hat and Victorian attitude and all.

Maybe that was a bit too much haranguing?

Edited to say that the silly silly man, who 'attacked' me in the forums for not being proper enough, is a rigid and overly prudish fellow. Does that work? When does a criticism in a mature forum become an attack?
