Man, those hoverboards in There nust be freakin awesome, 9 out of 10 comments I read, that's the big thing they mention.

Or maybe that's just all there is for them to mention.

Either way, they sure do seem to love those hoverboards.

I was a There beta tester. The hoverboards were very cool.

And yes, that pretty much is all there is to rave about.

There is good for a few months, then it gets really boring.

Darwin, I would just like to know what your big "hate on" for There is all about?

You have been there and you didn't find it terribley appealing. That's cool. Why trash it all the time? People that play there do not create entire threads trashing SL. Seems they have better things to do with their time, then join other games & forums and spout rhetoric.

They are two completely different entities and should not be treated the same. SL is more for the "developer" types and There has more of a "social" aspect. So?! You don't want to be social, stick with SL. That's cool, but let me get a few things straight with you.

My IQ is 144. I have taken and passed the testing required to enter Mensa. I speak, read and write in perfect english and french. I also have two degrees. I play There. I am not a moron or 13 years old.

I would have been seriously offended if this were to have been directed at me. Perhaps the person who your referring to dislikes how Darwin has really poked fun at There in the past. All this thread proves is that he's not done poking fun at it.

Its simple to search for threads relating to a certain topic, and with Darwin's multiple ventings against There, I dont think the person who your referring to has to be snobby and stuck up in order to state a negative opinion towards Darwin's rantings.

Good, that was the point; nobody died and made her Superbitch of SL. I think it's shallow to brag about the dubious merits of membership in Mensa, and as for languages, there are people I know in SL who speak six and seven. Getting outraged over three month old posts is absurd.
Getting mad about anything Darwin says is just looney, period.

Yes, I happen not to like There very much, and while I don't recall any purely cold-hearted attacks on There (all I can remember were attacks in good fun, but my memory fails me at times) but I certainly apologize for my attack on Regnar. That was something at the heat of the moment, tied into an encounter I had with him. This has been since sorted out. It was NOT an attack on There, and if you look at the date, it was posted quite some time ago. I apologize to Regnar, but I simply see no reason to apologize to anyone else. I agree that David's attack about being shallow certainly would hurt... I am done poking fun at There now (or flaming it as many would say).

I dont think Karilea was really being shallow when she presented that information about herself. At least to me, it didnt seem braggart at all. She was basicly stating facts about herself that disprove 'Darwin's Theory of There Idiocy', and seemingly only for that purpose.

1) I've seen many a thread in the There boards that does nothing but bash SL, with the exception of a few people (ya know, like this thread, except usually the There people attack the Pro-SL person, as opposed to how it always seems to work here)

2) There aren't only hoverboards...

There are buggies too

(ok, before the There people freak out on me, there are also, "5 person hover boats, jetpacks, and hoverbikes" and honestly, I've never had more fun than I did playing buggy SUMO, however... There bores me and I was more oft verbally abused in There than I have ever been in SL. I was in There 2 weeks; SL: 11 months.)

Thank you Christopher. I was in no way bragging. I simply wanted to disprove the rantings that Thereians are idots and juevenile. I feel no need to 'sell' or 'promote' myself. I was merely providing evidence that Darwin (and others) are wrong in making blanket statements about the types of people that play There.


Dionysus Starseeker- I have been in There since August and have seen no such Threads. I have seen Thereians defend There after being attacked by SL players. As I am sure you would all do if they came here and trashed SL.

Been THERE, done that. Gave my review, in this case negative.

Don't get me wrong I am not trying to sell There or recruit new members. My original reason for posting was to try to understand Darwin's complete dislike for There and to dispute the perception that the people over there are stupid or underage. Truth be told I find Darwin rather intriguing, thus my wanting to understand his passionate distaste for There.

All of these online "worlds" have their goods and bads. It's just a matter of which 'goods and bads' you choose to deal with.

Lets just say that there are There people and Second Life people, ok?
