Yep, it is cheaper to rent than to buy, if you just want to try one out. There are benifits to buying of course. And since I just happen to sell the things too (  ), let me list the differences: $10 Rental: * Can get a feel for the plane if you just want to try it out. * It works for a limited time. * It's for flying only: landing ends the rental. * No bumper-plane fights: bumping into things ends the rental. Purchase: * You get to fly without limitations and keep the plane forever... even resell it if you like. * You can get it customized (any colour any texture) * More plane models to choose from. * You can land (or crash). * Can bump into objects without penalty, unless that object is a person. I just built a new rental kiosk at Zoe Airfield. Drop by and try one out! -Cubey

When you pay the sign to rent your plane, it rezzes right next to the sign. Then, when you click to fly, it shoots you and the plane up into the air to give you plenty of initial altitude to begin your flying. Its a pretty good deal overall, just dont crash!

Thanks for the plug! As a side note, today's SL update bugged all my aircraft. I have already sent out free upgrades to fix everyone who purchased in the past week, but the SL account history doesn't show anything past that. Change to rental planes... now they last longer

Rental jets no longer vanish when you crash. You can now land, crash, ram into other vehicles... whatever you like. The rental ends either after 5 minutes or when you stand up -- whichever comes first.
