Leeeeet's Get Ready to RUMBLLLLLLE!!!!

Aiight folks here it is for all you narrow minded "Thread Nazis"!!!

First let us realize that SL is indeed a revelutionary idea that looks like it just may change how we interact with each other on the net from here on out. It gives us any oppertunity to engage each other in ways not before possible and with seemingly endless possibilities.

Now I am new to SL, but not very new to life itself. I've been blessed to travel the world over and enjoy a multitude of other cultures and people that most will only ever see on National Geographic. Now we have an avenue to share our ideas and cultures with each other in a possitive and interactive manner as never before!

Now to the beef!!!!!

As a noob I have been thoroughly enjoying my time in SL, meeting people from all over the world, exchanging philosophies and ideas, and sharing creativity. A huge part of the whole learning and sharing experience is the Forums. Now, being a fairly nice guy, and believe it or not, extremely openminded to new, positive, and different ideas, I was more than happy to participate in some of the very engaging and interesting threads.

But it seems in SL, just as in real life, we have those seemingly miserable, narrow-minded trogolodytes (let me retract that, some of these people are even an insult to fungus) whom have nothing better to do but interject thier nagative connotations into otherwise possitive and constructive threads. We all know of them. Those who are "Just looking for a fight". Now having gone to war for this country, willing to die to uphold our freedoms and ideologies, we all realize that this is thier God given right to do so, and an intergral part of the double edged sword we call Freedom.

Now in the interest of both size I propose that the Lindens give some serious thought as to possible opening another Forum, ie.. "Bitch and Moan", or perhaps another more apealing name like "Fight Club" where these individuals are free to whine, cry, irritate and otherwise totally annoy each other till their little empty hearts are content!!!

Please don't take this out of context. I'm sure most of us, even semi intelligents, understand what "Constructive Critism" is, and it should be promoted as a tool for others to learn alternitive points of views. If we're unclear as to the type of individual I'm refering to all one has to do is read some of the forums thoroughly.

Even to the point that some may be bumped into this catagory so they may continue thier griping and destructive bickering without interfering with others whom are trying to be creative and bring new and interesting ideas to the rest of the SL community.

Unfortunately, seeing the way things are opperating, this may not be a possiblity, and we'll all just have to live with it. Or maybe someone else can come up with a better solution, or again maybe not. Either way it would be nice for these people to have a place of thier own "Misery LOVES Company"

My apologize if this affends anyone and I am in no way intending this to be directed at any particular individual or group, you know who you are, and we know how you are.

From the perspective of said trogolodytes, the threads had nothing but crap in them until they posted their wise words.

I propose thread starters be tasked with moderating their own threads.

Uh... Ok, sure ...

Without oversight, enabling thread-based moderator privs would inevitably lead to blatant censorship of dissenting opinions. LL can't monitor every single thread in a forum as active as this one. That's where we come in. We can make use of the Report Bad Post icon to alert a real moderator to a potential issue.



Johny, keep in mind that the Off Topic forum is really where rant posts belong. Even there, the ToS and CS apply. I'd personally rather err on the side of leniency as opposed to the strict monitoring and controlling of threads.

This term was given to me by someone, so if you can't understand the rest of the argument and this as all you can come up with then you might be a great canidate to get in the "I got nothin better to do" forum.

But, good info and I'll chalk it up to constructive critisizm because I learned something valuable and will definately refrain from using that analogy in the future

Strictly speaking, however, this is not so, since the actual text of Godwin's Law does not state that such a reference or comparison makes a discussion "old," or, for that matter, that such a reference or comparison means that a discussion is over.

Good point Paolo, and whole heartedly willing to admit when I'm wrong, so I totally agree to the thread beeing moved or even deleted.

Oh, we had the "Rant, Rave and Obstreperate" forum for a while, Jonny. That was several forums iterations back. It became a real thorn in the Lindens' side, since things got very heated and ugly in that particular forum.

I think the Lindens figured out that if you give people a forum in which it seems okay to have at each other, they most certainly would. So, they took it away. And, they took away our off-topic forum for a while, as well; I'd say that most of us who were around when it was demolished are quite happy to have it back again.

I wonder if Eggy, Juro, et al have a section in the SL Wiki about past SL forum formats...

Since I am suggesting that thread creators be allowed to blantantly censor dissenting opinions, I'm not about to disagree with that.

As for me, I'm not so much a thread nazi, more a bi-partisan/equal opportunity/asshat.
