Numbers question...

I do _NOT_ want to start a flame thread or insult _ANYONE_ here, let me say that from the get-go, but has anyone noticed that there seem to be more "Well, I'm leaving" posts than there are "Hi, I'm new here" posts? Are there any numbers out there that show the new-player-to-leaving-players ratio? I love SL and want it to prosper, but all these "Goodbye, time to go" posts have me nervous.

Anyone?

I guess you could also use the tack that the "I'm leaving" posts merely reflect the intensity of the relationships and friendships that people forge in this space, making it an inherently more valuable and enriching environment.

I don't do online MM(insert acronym) usually, but this was one that made me sit up and take notice. I love this place.

If anything, SL is growing, fast.

Considering most of the heated issues are about availability of resources or lack thereof, I'd say SL is experiencing a population boom, not a mass exodus :)

there has been a significant increase in the number of threads/postings over the last two weeks so i'd say "growing"

The problem with comparing these two statistics is that they are from a very small self-selected population - you are only getting data from what few people cared enough to post. It's kind of like going to a political convention and asking questions about politics. The data is going to be skewed.

Besides - how many newbies are going to have the confidence to explode onto the boards with a:
"Hi! I'm me! You're all blessed to know me!"-type thing.

*doesn't actually notice a thing, due to usual hands-in-hips, pelvis forward, legs spread posture*
