Can any Linden confirm a date/time for 1.2 release so we can sort out our grouped land issues?

Is there going to be another tax day before 1.2 is released?

If I eject all the members from my group to regain sole control of the group land (I deeded all of it) how/when would I be able to reclaim it?

(Any Amazons reading this, the group will be re-instated once this is sorted out..)

This is importnat as all my finacial holdings have been invested in group lands...

From what I've been told, it will be mid January before group land is effected. In 1.2 group land owneage will not be affected. 1.2.1 or 1.2.2 will have that going (which again I was told mid January when that happens).

The release date for SecondLife 1.2 is planned as December 22.

The grace period for sorting out your finances, land usage, and prim usage is until January 12 for individuals. No grace period has been announced for groups, but I expect it to be at least as long as the individual grace period.

I recommend you wait until SL 1.2 arrives before making any drastic changes, as the 1.2 client has better tools for making these changes.

Big problem there Carnildo. Nearly all my finances are tied up as group land. The Lindens are going to credit us the full amount for personal holdings, but not for group held land...

If I wait until 1.2 to release the land back to me then I loose L$20k or more... if I release the land early and there's another tax day I loose a fat load as well...

So you see it is important to at least know if ther'll be another tax day

I know that this is going to really bug all of you, but there will NOT be another tax day before 1.2 release.

1.2 release is looking solid for next week. Details soon.

Also, as Philip has posted, we are going to credit you for land and objects owned at the 1.2 transition, so releasing land and objects will not get you more money.

will you be reimbursing groups for group owned land as well. i understand that money will be tied up until the group code is implemented in 1.2.1 or whatever. i just need to know whether the group will get the money or not.

Cory,

just a few group related things I'd like clarifying...

1) Will the money currently tied up in group land and objects be refunded?

2) If so, will it be distributed amongst all group members, or proportional to the amount deeded be each member?

3) Our group land is currently in several parcels. We've been told that there are no plans to allow group parcels to be joined. So, for us to make effective use of our land, we want to release it all and buy as one big parcel.
If there are no more tax days, will the money from releasing the land get paid back to the group members? I guess there will still be a standard stipend day, just want to make sure though :)

4) *pleads* Can we have two-person groups pretty please? With sugar on top? :D

HOWTO: De-grouping group owned land
12-19-2003 03:04
You can regain personal control of group owned land if you are an officer: sell it to someone, it ceases to be group land and becomes theirs, and then buy it back from them so it will be yours.

Thanks for the post Cory.

Here's my problem though...

All my land (except a small amount I bought a couple of days ago) is tied up as group land. You promised to credit us for all our land but I effectivly don't have it any more.. it's group deeded.
I think you said somewhere that group land wounld not be credited.. can you confirm or deny this? Will group land be credited?

All I'm trying to do is get back the money I spent on the land just as everyone else will.

I could release the gourp land now and buy it back as personal land, but I'd need a stipend/tax day in order to get at the released funds in the group.. (yes I know I'd have to eject everyone else from the group to do this...)

You've promised us no more tax days, so does this mean no stipends either?

If a stipend is to be paid as normal, can I assume that the group accounts will be calculated as normal so I could retrieve this money?
When will it happen? Tuesday as normal?

I know you're prolly in bed right now, I'll keep shamelessly bumping this thread up during the day :)

Ok, I found a work-around for this.

Group officers with large holdings in group land CAN retrieve their land to get the up-coming credit.

How? I hear you ask.. (go on.. ask)

Ok, I'll tell you. As an officer you can release group land or mark it for sale. In either case the proceeds go to the group so simply releasing it doesn't realy help.
But if you mark the land that you deeded for sale for $1, you can then buy the land yourself.

Obviously this is easier if the land hasn't been joined into one big lump, in which case you'd need to then release it and claim it back in two or more parcels, deeding the excess back to the group.

This also solves the problem that others have been moaning about when people leave a group having deeded land they wish to keep.

Yes I know that 1.2 should allow us to split parcels of land but that doesn't help us in 1.1 where we're trying to get our land credit at the changeover.

Hope this helps someone.

(credit to Eggy for seeding the idea)

hmmm... sounds like a plan...

presumably this would work with group deeded objects too, I could set them to sell the original object at $1 each, then buy them myself...

Interesting! ty Eggy & Surina :)

yes thank you both. but i only need to do this is the group isn't going to be reimbursed the difference in the 1.1 and 1.2 prices.

so i need to know that too. from a linden. please. or is the answer posted somewhere else and i've missed it?

The specific problem I had Khamon was that all my land holding were group deeded, and conversely, all the group land was deeded by me...

Even if the Lindens credited the group for the land, that credit would then get split between the group members. Nice for them, but I don't get back the land purchase price like everyone else does...

In a group where multiple people have deeded land, and have a more or less equal share, then this is much less of a problem.
