Carolyn Fallingbridge asked this in her quote below her post and I decided to ask the experts.
I have never given alot of thought to a forum avatar but I too do not have one and do not know where the good sites are to find the cool ones. It would be a great help to myself as well as to many others including the majority of noobs to get some suggestions on where to find a nice avitar selection.
Please share where you found your forum avitar and give some suggestions as to where we can go to find some that are ok for us to use. Thanks!

Billy - my guess is that you probably DON'T want to know where I got my forum avatar pic. ---- But that's "Bat Boy" and I have been following his travels for years now.
I got the pic from an article in the National Enquirer. My next Forum pic could be "Big Foot", but it's generally about my mood more than a representation of me.
You might just do a search on something that you think describes your self our your mood and see if you can find a non-copyrighted, public domain pic. There are tons of sites that offer free graphics too, many of them animated. Just do a search for free textures and follow the links.

Rose Oh, Bat Boy isn't from The National Enquirer. He's from Weekly World News, and I know because I've been following his travels as well. I grew to learn much about pop culture through Enquirer -- and they don't really do the outlandish stuff anymore. Even back then, they may have had the odd stories, but they do accomplished journalism (i.e. their revelations on the OJ case).

My favorite story is about the mink a woman was wearing turning on her and killing her. I guess I have a sick sense of humor or a low threshold for laughter. I just always thought Bat Boy was way cool - any idea what he's been up to lately?

Rose, I crack up at so much of it too, and I have to remind myself that's fiction. I also like the "Saddam sex change" and the "lost Bible pages used as toilet paper" ones because they were so utterly warped. Bat Boy used to have his own dedicated section online at the Weekly World News site, IIRC... but more recently, there was a musical based on the story of his life! Anyone remember in Ghost Busters where that one girls fur coat came alive and attacked her and chased her? Made me think of that. As for forum avatar, I made mine, I was first thinking of using a picture of David Spade (and I did for awhile on SLUniverse forums), but then decided to use a playing card spade symbol instead. If you're not up for making your own, I suggest trying to look on other forums for one you like, there are tons of forums around that have avatars you can preselect, I don't have any suggestions for good ones offhand however. You can always do a google image search as well.

Okay, another forum avatar question..
10-08-2004 06:26
So what are the restrictions for a forum avatar, in terms of data? Like, specific file formats, file sizes, resolutions? And if I'm missing it (which I probably am), feel free to just tell me where on the web site it is, and say, "Go look it up yourself, you stupid!" --Carolyn (The Stupid Auntie. But you already knew that)

It needs to by 50 x 50 pixels & I'm not sure on the format, but I used .jpg.

Try a Google search for animated sheep. Thats where I got mine. Oh.....and my favorite World News story was when they found Sudam Hussein's nuclear submarine in Lake Michigan....they even had the pictures to prove it! I suspect that's where Bush gets his intelligence reports.
