aww. that whole 'graduating grids' thing does sound kinda sad. In a reversal of usual trends, I can see you'll have teens lying about their ages to stay down there. :p

I've already run into teens lying to escape the TG, too. One referred to it as "baby land".

(Yes, the Lindens were informed)

Ah, yes, considering the title, I'd say one thing is perfectly clear about the perception of SL main grid:

There is no prostitution.

Hiro,

Are you attention starved or something this week? Must you piss on everyones posts? Yes you're entitled to your opinion, however everywhere I look you're off busting a blood vessle. I hope you get your "fix" soon, whatever that may be.

Personally I refer to our side of things as the IM-Mature grid... and I wouldn't have it any other way... Strip clubs n all...

*sigh*

I look at the title of this story (which I haven't read yet), and I get very sad. There are two kinds of places in the American viewpoint: the clean-cut asexual American Dream, and the seedy sleazy red-light district underbelly where anything sexual occurs. Do we really think that anyone unfamiliar with SL would get a very good 1st impression of our world by that byline?

I like sex. I like dressing my avatar in skimpy outfits I wouldn't be caught dead with on in RL, and I enjoy innuendo-laced flirting. That doesn't mean I want people to turn away from SL because they are given the opinion that it's some kind of sleazy cybersex toy.

It's one reason I wish the Lindens never made the Teen Grid. Not that I want to exclude teens from the SL metaverse...but it was obvious that the big thing that the Teen Grid would make people focus on is the 'absence' of the Mature. Which means that the focus also becomes on what is *not* absent from the Main Grid.

I think writing Second Life off in a byline as "Brothel World" is unfair and degrading.

Clio that is the new "game thing" is sex and how seedy it can get. There was recently a huge write up (well new as in a year or two ago now) of adult style games and how games were not for the kiddies anymore. I know about one such article as my character was written up in one. Basicly as of the year 2000 two markets were not touched by the gaming industry that could provide high revenues: Females and adults.

It's amazing how the American psyche is so hung up on sex.

War is cool with half of us though, and ironically, the half that is so hung up about sex. Sigh.

I pity people who look at SL and all they take away from it is sex. I guess that is one constant which filters in from RL...

Who is really obsessed about sex? Those who enjoy it, or those who carp about how bad it is incessantly?
