It would be an interesting barometer of confidence and user interest of SL :)

I think I might pay $800 for one at this point (given that I get 4096 m2).

Not sure it is worth that much
Yes you get 4096m2 included allowance for life...(for as long as SL will be up)
but, 4096 is $25/month.

800/25 = 32 months prepaid 4096m2 (about 2.6 years)

Then if you are doing well in SL you will end up creating something, may be a gaming area or land to rent or whatever you fancy.. therefore ending up grabbing more land on top of your 4096 m2

So you will be like paying 2.6 years in advance for a 4096 plot of land.. then paying more for space to accommodate your future plans... and I think most good places where things are actually happening, interesting projects etc.. are spread over at least 16,000m2 areas.

So 16,000-4,000 you may add an other 12,000m2 accountable for...that is an additional $75 per month

What if in the future (SL stays up for long or for ever... you grow and need more... I know people who bought an Island after 12 months of SL life and are doing well) you want to buy a whole SIM or an Island that no matter what will still cost you US $195/month
Making your free 4096m2 look like a nothing

I also know another user that does own a Life Membership paid about $200 or whatever... but that user has an Island and the fre 4906 life membership accounts for nothing... that user still had to pay to buy the highland and pays US $195 per month for the land tier...

So if you will never want to expand over 4096m2.. then maybe it could be ok...
But if you want to share creativity with others, build something big, grow, be very active etc... 4096 will soon feel a bit tight and your life membership will become a useless waste of money you will only regret... unless it was really cheap.

How do Life Club memberships work? Like GYM life access card... you don't really pay any more if you use the GYM once per week or 30 days per month... so you shouldn't pay anymore if you use 4096 or 65,000? Which may or may not be possible for LL to do as they have their costs.

just thinking things out loud while on a break at work... so what I said may include errors!

EDIT: OUch... I forgot about the monthly membership.. I pay yearly so that's about $6 per month... I gues even saving this $6 per month does not make much difference to what I typed above

they'll probably not offer land holding life accounts again until they need an influx of cash. frankly, they'll likely never offer them at all. i expect they'll come up with some other incentive for resident "investors."

see those people literally invested their money in something that might or might not continue after a few months of operation. their risk has been well rewarded. ll don't need that kind of player investment now. if they did, they'd make us an offer.

Yeah, at 800 / 31 ~ 25 months or 2 years.

Yeah, I think I'd pay that. I'll buy it off another user if SL could confirm that it's cosher.

if they auction off one acount most likely it would go for more then an island at auction. Only one person could get it. And int he long run all of us would be the ones to foot the bill for their life time account.
