Architect/Engineer in need of land

Hi all...

I hope this is an appropriate forum for this post - I looked at all the others and none of them seemed to fit any better, so...

I currently find myself in a situation shared by many. I am a lifetime member, with a 4096 sq. m allotment...but can't find a good piece of land to buy. I'm hopeful that something will come along in January, but with only about $5k to my name I have no delusions about being able to win any of the auctions. So, I have a few things that I plan on doing in the meantime

Firstly, I would like to announce that I am for hire as an engineer/architect. I've got a real-life background in *both*. My degree is in Civil Engineering, and I've worked for both architectural and engineering firms. Additionally, I have plenty of 3D modeling experience that I'm anxious to apply within the realm of SL. I have spent the last several weeks learning the SL system and have discovered a talent for making low prim count models look good through clever usage of textures :) So, if you need a building and want it done by a professional (in RL no less!), feel free to email me at secondlife_at_odle.biz (replace _at_ with @) or give me a shout in world. I have a few initial samples of my work, nothing 100% complete as they are mostly test concepts but they will give you a good idea of my talent level. Perhaps with the funds realized through the sale of custom structures, I can have a better chance of winning the upcoming auctions. Additionally, I would be very interested in offering my services in exchange for a plot of land.

I've also been looking for existing plots that are for sale, but haven't had much luck. I spend some time each night looking at the Land For Sale map overlay, and unfortunately none of the plots currently for sale fit my needs. Here is what I'm after...be aware that this is my "ideal" situation and I understand it may not work out just exactly how I want:

Intent: A place to put my home. This means somewhere away from commercial developments if possible. I value seclusion above all. It seems a waterfront plot is one of the best ways to achieve this, but it is not a specific requirement.

Size: largish, somewhere between 2000 and 4000 sq. m. The smaller the plot is, the more natural barriers to adjacent development need to be in place. Like I said, seclusion is the goal :)

Terrain: Having something like a natural mountain is not of specific importance, unless it helps my overall goal. The actual location of my structure will be graded flat, but if there are other interesting features that'd be nice.

Rating: PG or Mature is of no real imporance, would actually prefer PG but if a plot in a Mature sim would fit the bill then that's ok too.

Affordability: Like I said, I only have L$5000 to my name, but hopefully this situation will improve as time goes on. Something in the L$5000-10000 range would be appropriate.

So here is my second proposal to the community. If you can find me a plot of land that meets most of the above specs *and* I wind up purchasing it, I will give you a 10% commission.

Well, that's all I have for now. Let me know what you all think :)

I expect a lot of land will become available near January 12th especially in PG territory. Of course that is just my guess.

Morse:

Please contact me in-game tonight. We have some land available in Slate, and it is somewhat secluded, and a very nice place to live.

The Slate Neighborhood Association is in control of all the open land in Slate at this time, and we are always looking for mature people who wish to live in the Natural Beauty of the land to move in. Not only do we want someone that appreciates the land the way it is, we also want someone who will be a good neighbor, and will also take an active role in Slate.

If you feel you would like to be a part of a group, and a part of something really unique in SL, please get in touch.

Thanks!
