At first I loathed the change. I'm still unsure how I will feel when I see the first 195/month person, or how people will feel when they see someone like myself having more land because i choose to pay $25 a month.
But these changes are great! *In the long run*
We should have alot of prim space open as some of us take down our 50-200prim objects.
Reading a majority of the posts will point out that anyone who chooses to continue to pay $15/month will get more land + their base land, and a prim limit per sim increase. This is GREAT.
Sure I felt I was handed a lemon by the Lindens, so i squeezed it some, added water & sugar and *poof*, Lemonade. I feel much more secure knowing where I stand inworld with the land Taessa and I share together and separately.
There is no doubt that those who can afford more in RL will get more in SL. But try not to look at it that way. Just look at the fact that you will have an SL where you can show a friend an item without having to rez it on your body because server space is full, or drag it across some other sims border.
Maybe I will regret it, maybe not. But for me, if Second Life lasted only a year from today, it would be the most unique online experience I have ever had in my liftetime, and well worth the dollars I will have paid.

Hear Hear! I think the problem is very simple Flat rate pricing polics are very popular. To the point of being IRRATIONALLY popular Flexible pricing policies can save many people money, and at the same time attract more players (after all, you will have the option of paying $10, $5/month, $10/month, $15/month, or more). I'm guessing that the Linden's are econominists. Their PR so far has sounded like something an economist would write From an economists perspective, its brilliant stuff From the normal, marketing perspective, it sounds like they are trying to bleed us dry If you think about it for awhile though, it really does make a lot of sense

A big part of the problem with the announcement and the forums postings was how they kept emphasizing the "we will be sending cash to the best players". To me, that came across as an attempt to bribe us into accepting the new system -- something I react very badly to.

I'm prepared to be a willing agent for your un-needed funds. Please think of me in times of financial bounty.

I'd class the "win money" spiel as...er...well an attempt to get people to build bigger and better things, tbh. Joe Average may not stand much chance of winning it, but if someone wants to make something _special_ then the possibility of financial reward may prove that extra drive needed to be a world-beater.
Besides, the Lindens want the world to be interesting too...
