I understand people having problems with this, but if it were real life...you can sell it, so you should be able to in world. I mean I need some money pretty bad right now and I have bought a few things ( no copy objects, one of the object) and I want to sell them to make the money back that I spent on them. IS this wrong ? I think its kind of rude to sell something if youve got like a copy on it, where say I have a chair , and can make tons of them, and I try to sell them.
I like to be able to sell other peoples objects, because then I can decorate my house, but then be able to sell everything in it too...to offset costs.
I however, moraly in sl cant do THAT. but If i have ONE of something, shouldnt I be able to sell it ? I really want to sell some things I have ONE of

my feeling on this: if it's a NO MODIFY and NO COPY object, it should be okay to resell it. you are not making any money off this object, just recouping the money that you spent on it. also, you will not be able to sell multiple copies, just that single copy.
i think NO MODIFY, NO COPY objects are going to become the popular choice for sellers, because it's closest to real life. you cannot go to Walmart, buy a blender, then hit ctrl-D a few times, and sell a bunch of blenders to other people. you can only resell that one blender, and if other people want one they need to go pay the store (creator) for another.

I agree with BP. I like the no modify no copy, its very realistic. I dont like that people can simply copy things they have made to mass produce them...its like "Where the heck did these things come from?? No assembly line, no manufacturing plant? Where!?!" Just my 2 cents...

to move a NO MODIFY/NO COPY object from the world to your inventory, you can click/acquire/take them. maybe the alert box that pops up when you try to delete a NO MODIFY/NO COPY object should tell you this?

My feeling is.. if I make something NO COPY NO MODIFY... Its like I am putting a patent on it.. and that should be honored.. Just as in real life. If its not there should be a consequence

No Modify/No Copy *does* work like the patent, as far as I can tell. Except there is nothing stopping someone from creating their own similar object themselves. But you would neve be able to stop that.
Someone selling a 'No Modify/No Copy' object isn't any different than someone selling their used car, or holding a yard sale.
For example, I paid for a nice pair of sunglasses which turned out to not work with my character. I would like to recoup some of my expense. Since I have this one single object, it's not like I could set up a store selling illegally-copied sunglasses. I'm just selling the used pair I don't want anymore.
(so, any female avatar out there want to buy a nice pair of sunglasses? Cheap!)

Yes but I have several books that are copyright and many many items that are patented in RL. I can take and sell those at whatever price I can get for em. It's generally called a garage sell. And I think the same holds true here. As long as you aren't using some bug to duplicate a NM-NC item then you should be in the clear. If we had the content controls for scripts (and other items? textures, sounds etc?) that we do for objects then my stance would be very firm that if you don't mark em NM-NC then you are granting whomever you are selling it to the right to do whatever they please. As it stands now in current beta however, it just can't work that way. And for that we require .....<drum roll> .... nice people! <gasp> And for now that generally isn't a problem. I have yet to meet anyone that isn't nice in this game. But when the game goes live.....

yes but you cannot claim them as your own and your usually not making profit.. Now if you sold only one of someone elses Item.. then yes... it would be like a garage sale.

From: someone Originally posted by Maven Crossing any female avatar out there want to buy a nice pair of sunglasses? Cheap!) Can the shaded-lens be tinted to any hue? Also, would they 'fit the face' or would they appear as many other add-on objects seem to show up I have seen... horribly out of proportion to the Av?
