Is this the start of draconian new employment contracts prohibiting employees from mentioning their place of work in public?

They tell you where to be all day, when to eat, who to go for medical services (or at least their HMO does), what to say, what to think, they check your pee for bad stuff...corporate progress...gotta love it.

This sounds awfully like it's leading up to the way the government regulated YT's mom in Snow Crash. That, as I understand it, was meant to be a futurefarcial parody, but in light of things like this happening in the world, it's not difficult to see how some multinational corporations and even smaller companies want to flex control over their employees.

Saddened wife of an EA employee, anyone?

Actually the person was sacked not for Blogging but for "satirising" his boss and bad mouthing the company he worked for. I'm on the side of the employer here, frankly if one of my employees did the same and refused to remove it I'd sack them too.

Totally, he offered to remove it and accept a written warning, and they still gave him the sack.

Unreasonable, non?

That is why you are an idiot for using your real name while doing this sort of thing. Half an ounce of brains can go a long way towards a long, happy life. Reading what was posted, if I were his boss I'd be pissed off as well. What it amounts to is public insubordination and any boss will make your life miserable if they read something like that.

I agree totally! There is no room for free thought or speech in today's corporate culture. If you should ever voice any opinion counter to the wishes of your employment masters you should be shot, and your family should be sent to a gulag. And have that pee ready by tomorrow or we will come and take it by force! Achtung!!!!
