Stop taxes prior to 1.2

Considering that the sims are prim maxed, and we can't buy any more land realistically, why not stop taxing us as of today since the taxes are going away anyway? It would take off some pressure and let us enjoy SL a little more before a rather dramatic change that will no doubt alter SL as we know it (for better or worse remains to be seen).

I agree. Some free time away from taxes would be a welcome change.

Yes, soothe the sting of these changes. Tax relief will make it all better! :)

This would be nice.

But this would most likely require everyone to upgrade to 1.2 today, dunno how it all works but I'm guessing most of it is server side, but some also client side.

If they just removed taxes without putting the other systems in place I have a feeling there would be alot of object greifing and over populating too.

Oz,

It is hard to object grief in a sim that is at 99%, which a huge amount of them are.

C

PS - they have waived taxes before without a client update, when we switched to unified tax days.

Or.....

...Or we could all voice our opinion to stop 1.2. Which is down right absurd.

Although this is a thread for the economy forum...I'll post there...

Early Tax Relief

I heartily Agree, especially considering we have all put out tons of Light Objects for the Holidays... What a tax burden we will all have from making our world look festive !!!

True, and when 1.2 goes into effect any object banks would be deleted anyway if over usage.

And I didn't know about that other thing.

I'm all for it :D

Doubt it'll happen, but I'm for it! Hehe.

They can't do away with taxes yet because then we'd all start accumulating L$ which will soon be worth some amount of real money.

Right now tax is the only thing keeping prim usage in check. I don't think it should be removed until the new system is in place.

And I ask again - how is it keeping prim usage in check if the sims are maxed out?

You are implying that the tax has no effect? If that's the case, then I disagree. If you mean the tax doesn't have enough effect, then I agree.

It is not true that all the sims are maxxed out. If there were no tax, I believe they would be.

the tax is moot at this point. And since we know it's not going to have any significance once 1.2 takes place, then why not let us have a festival of building. One last orgy of thoughtless over consumption - a kinda Burning Life as we burn the old world and welcome the new!

it's only for a couple of weeks and order will quickly be restored when the new system kicks in and people realize their wallets have to answer for their excess.

Please, no.

I for one, plan to continue building and working on my home. I do NOT want to log in tonight to fint it, and every other sim is now at 100% and I can't do anything.

The taxes are too low in my opinion. Any time you have a shortage of something, the price has been set too low for the supply. I look forward to not seeing the "Server Full" message when I try and res a cube. Ugh!

No building orgies, thank you very much. :-)

God yes! I think it's screwy we get taxed so much for lights! It's so bad a fellow like me winds up paying L$100s every week just so his builds don't look like the inside of a tomb at night! That's going to be one thing I DON'T miss when we go to 1.2!

I am not implying anything - the vast majority of sims are very prim maxed - spend a little time in an M sim and try to find one that is not over 90%. As Bel Muse said, it is for a short time - I don't think the gloom and doom predictions that the entire place would be overbuilt would come true - especially since as soon as 1.2 kicks in, those prim limits kick in as well, so it is all moot. And fine, stop the stipends too if need be, but it seems silly to keep taxing us so that we have to work hard to preserve something for a few weeks.

I still have to disagree. The tax limitations are not working because they are too low. If they got rid of object taxes for the next three weeks, you can say goodbye to a number of sims.

To me it's obvious that the only reason any sims have free prims at all are because of object taxes. Some restriction on this very scarse and essental resource are needed. I for one am looking forward to prim use based on land ownership.

Please, no tax free weeks... if you want to have a building orgy, go to the sandbox.. that is what they are for. Leave my 97% full sim alone.

I can see you are very passionate about this issue, Cristiano Midnight. I'm probably not the person you need to convince that it is a good idea to drop taxes!
