Sexy sky boxes on SL Herald

I've just read the very amusing reviews of some sky boxes on SL Herald. I thought the school room with the bad math on the blackboard particulary imaginative!

Anyway, whats the deal with these in SL? If there's sex balls in them but they are way high up in the air, do they still have to be in mature areas only? Or is it a case of don't ask don't tell, if it's so high up and out of the way, with only you and *guests* being able to enter, do the Lindens turn a blind eye?

Real life is pretty much PG, but what you get up to in your own home, out of sight and in private isn't.

Yes. Technicly. The CS and Lindens require any mature content to be in Mature sims only, even if it is hidden. But if its hidden enough I suppose you wouldn't get in trouble for it unless someone finds it and ARs it. Sex balls themselves are sort of hidden unless you sit on them or give them an obviouse name like "Butt Sex" or some such, so I imagine if its in a skybox, not obviouse, and people have to sit on it to find out what exactly the pose ball does, you'd be very unlikely to get reported.

What is someone going to say to a Linden? "WAAAH, in the middle of someone's 14k PG parcel I found a ball called SEX inside a box that was inside a closed and locked one-way glass house at 600m that I had to ride a cube through to get inside!!! PUNISH TEH OWNER!1!!!!111"

Basically yes . They can do that. lol

I guess the motivation of those that report M content in PG areas is their own. But, if they do report this situation, the M content would have to go. I have always felt that what I do on my land is my business, regardless of sim rating, but if I were to get reported for M content in a PG sim, I would be the one in the wrong.

A friend of mine had a place on top of a mountain that she owned all of in a pg sim. the whole mountain was hollowed right the way thru to make one hell of a basement. Once you found the secret trapdoor, there was a lift shaft going down to the bottom - about 4 or 5 floors equivalent depth. At the bottom was a room in which she had hung a mildly risque picture about 2 meters square.

Despite the fact the place was locked up, and the basement only accessible by the secret lift or cheating, and you couldnt even camscan anywhere near the room from anywhere, she was reported for it. and suspended.

Yup. I can imagine the abuse report now. "After considerable trouble to break and enter into the basement of this property, I was horrified to find a non PG picture on the wall while I was trespassing! I am outraged!"

People are indeed this petty. I can't stand it when someone walks around with a feeling of entitlement. Everyone and everything must be within the long arm of some half-assed rules. And these rules are abided by the way these whistle-blowers interpret them.

It's like going to Disneyland, wearing a black thong underneath a long dress, and then some pervy snot-faced kid yelling at the top of his lungs cuz he peeked under there and was appalled to see a grown woman's bits. And the woman is chastised.

I'm waiting right now for skyboxes to be the next issue to be skewered. I can imagine the quote right now, "OMG! I went to a skybox 574.891 meters in the air, sat on a ball after typing "show" from channels 1 to 1163, and was promptly juiced with a chrome-plated fist! BAN SKYBOXES IN PG AREAS! SUSPEND THESE PEOPLE WHO DARE HAVE THINGS IN SL!!!!"

Bleh. Sorry, I'm just hating everything today.

Personally, I don't think it's about pettiness. It's about land values. I could've bought a beautiful peice of land for a fraction of the price I paid for my place in Amida. But I would not want to be constantly second-guessing "Is this appropriate? Is that appropriate?"

People debate all the time about zoning laws. I find it interesting that the only zoning law SL actually has on the books is Sex/No Sex. That *is* what M/PG is all about. If you ask me...someone has a issue with sexual sights, they're the one with the obessesion...not the creator/builder who put it there. SL is rated M, no matter how many PG sims we have. Minors aren't allowed, that's the rule. People need to grow up and stop having kneejerk conniptions.
