Lost Bike?

I bought this really cool Voodoo bike from a shop in Aqua, and I was riding it around. However, somehow it just TOOK off (I think I hit "a";) and drug me underground. The only way I could think to reorient myself was to teleport home. So I did, then for reason the left and right controls stopped working, so I ultimately logged out.

If my bike lost, or can I recall to it somehow? It wasn't terribly expensive, but I'd hate to lose it. Can someone help me here? Thanks!

DEGUG\RENDERING\TYPES\SURFACE PATCH

Toggle this on and off and it will remove the ground and you will see whats buried beneath.

Not sure if your bike is there, sometimes they go who knows where. And sometimes they end up buried way away from where you think it should be.

Now if one had attended a UI class, one would know this....heh.

How do you toggle it on and off, Feniks?

ctrl+alt+d brings up the debug menu (and removes it as well).

What you hit was lag, most likely. I get this as well, when crossing sim borders. First, I suggest riding in the new vehicle sims, no lag! Second, don't teleport home. Log out/in if you have to, but usually if you wait a bit the lag will cease and you'll be sitting on your vehicle. If you do log/teleport away --typically the vehicle will be at or near the border where you crossed. Fly around the area looking for a blue dot (your object) on the mini-map.

And everything Boso said too.

I also lost a vehicle (hoverpod) in a similar way. While riding, I suddenly found myself deep underground and I could see myself moving in one direction while the vehicle was moving in a different direction. I did find it buried deep in a corner where 4 sims converge (Rizal, Natoma and 2 others). I can see it there and when I click on edit and attempt to retrieve it, Second Life immediately crashes for me. I have tried this 3 times with the same result so I have temporaily given up on getting it back. My main concern is since I can not take it back into my inventory that I will have to pay taxes on it ad infinitum. I filed a bug report, getting the standard reply of we are looking into it. I will try again today and if it happens again I'll file another report.

And while we're all out there looking for each others lost vehicles, please keep an eye on a 6m Japanese rowing boat, last seen on the north side of Ahern, near the Darkwood/Dore/Ahern corner. Dumb me did not make a copy. Could blame the smugglers there...

In general, is it considered good neighborly practice to IM the owner of an apparently abandonded/lost/decaying vehicle, or would that be annoying? Personally, I'd love to hear from someone who finds an obviously out-of-place prim of mine.

hmm i THINK i might have seen your bike hovering over a house in central lusk. Not 100% sure its yours but the name sounds familiar... Honestly the best way to find these things is just wait a little bit and have someone IM you (usually the property owner it landed on)

(god knows i've probably done that 10 times this week already, i dunno what it is about lusk but we just seem to be like the graveyard of lost vehicles)

Just a note...

If your vehicle suddenly digs underground or spirals out of control into the void, don't get off. Just wait it out and after a minute or two the system will eventually return your view to the correct location.

If you get off, you may not find your vehicle.

It's a "feature".
