A special thankyou to Jill Linden aka "Touched by a Linden!"

I would like to most graciously thank Jill Linden for helping me out of a jam. I got into this weird problem -- which would fit quite nicely into my timetravel roleplay, BTW -- where I started to walk and do everything REALLY slowly. At first I thought it was some bizarre time-dilation shiznit, but then I looked around and saw everyone else in "normal" motion. I was, to say the least, feeling helpless not being able to reach out and touch someone physically... only chat!

This continued for some minutes. I tried various troubleshooting things, and then contacted Jill. She suggested some more... so I rebooted and did an Internet bandwidth test and all that stuff. No dice. Finally, I relogged back onto SL and tried going to some islands where the lag is low. All of a sudden, I got TPed to Rizal|Sports by Jill. I was like "WHOA!!!"

I then proceeded to fall and get dunked into the water, and am surprised to see Jill in the land above me. She observes that things look fine again, and I agree... as the speed of my motion returns to normal. I wander around some, and I dunno what it was -- synchronicity of coincidence or if Jill activated some Linden teleport magic on my virtual booty -- but it fixed the problem.

I suppose in the Matrix, you can take the red pill, the blue pill, or -- I took the Jill pill, and now I can walk around again!

I now realize how much I have taken it for granted.

Ouch, Aaron -- you experience that every day? It could be other factors too... I've experienced time dilation before that slows down everyone in a given area, but this was my first time being slowed down alone.

For what it is worth, I've noticed that when I've been to a very laggy area, when I teleport to a new area that is low-lag (island with no avs, or something) the junk that was trying to download to my client is still coming in, and it takes a bit for that to stop. Afterwards, I'm doing just fine... perhaps in Torley's case this process was stuck somehow, lagging him/her out in a more permanent fashion.

Can a Linden Touch me too?

Actually, I downloaded 163MB of that Techno goodness and am going back for more. Nice work, Torley. And glad to hear you've been cured by the Not-So-Jagged Little Jill.

Yeah, curious ain't it? I myself TPed around oodles of times and the "junk" sure didn't stop. Didn't work properly until Jill TPed me. Formerly I was moving slower than a dead penguin sitting on a sun's corona. Oooohboy.




LOL!!! I'd like to see a video of that! Including the speaking of tongues (yes, gratuitous Snow Crash reference), and all the prims jittering in excitement. LOL.
