The October 28th issue of PC Mag has a brief roundup of virtual worlds in its After Hours section; it's not up at the website yet, though. SL gets four stars ("very good";); the review is just a few paragraphs, and barely scratches the surface. TSO gets three stars ("good";). There is reviewed but not given a rating because it's still in beta.

My Mother Told me .........

My Mother Once told Me If you don't Have Something Nice to say Then Don't Say Anything At ALL!

I Belong to Bothe Sl And There.com

There.com Has Alot More Users then Second Life and I have NEVER seen a Message on there.com's forums Bashing Second LIfe . (That Dosent Mean that no one has )

I Once posted an impartial Review Of SL on there.com And no one bashed me or SL .

1. There.com has better Physics and ALOT more Land then SL will ever have .

2. There.com Allows Kids And Sl does not ( I forgive kids for acting dumb Stupid and foolish as they dont know better )

3. Although There.com Lacks Scripting and building and is Run In a lower Screen resoulution There's Avitars actually have more expressions and more Fluid Movements then those of Sl..

4. When you Drive or Fly In there.com it Looks a whole lot better then (step step Jerk Jerk ).

5. There Handles hundreds of users on line at one time Compared to Second lifes Dozens at once .

6. There IS NOT FINISHED YET and Likely wont be for a long while . Although there's econemy is screwed up (And so is this one ) I give it a lot of respect .

If you dont LIKE there.com THEN DONT PLAY IT .

Now GO and have fun wherever !

Preface: Please do not take this as a personal attack.

1) What do you base your opinion on the Physics engine on? - I am afraid that while There may appear to have more SPACE that it does not actualy have more usable land due to the fact that empty land realy dosn't count and There is made up of about 80% empty land.

2) Do you forgive kids for griefing, cursing, harassing and all the fun things that also get the adults in trouble? They do it more often, and personaly its nice to have a (for the most part) adult game for once. Can the adults have no fun alone?

3) The movments of avatars are being worked on and in the near future we will have customizable emotes.

4) Im not sure I understand this "step step jerk jerk" effect you are experiancing, unless it is due to lag. But you must realize that up until recent times the avatar has not ben the center of the game in SL. Building / scripting were. There on the other hand is centered around making your virtual self look good, hence the difference in priorities.

5) SL handles hundreds of users online at the same time just fine, thow they do have issues with too many people in one SIM at the same time (So does there, Only you don't notice it as much on There because of they way the server updates your client it masks lag). The sim issue is being improved in the next build a good deal, but again the EXTREAME Differances in the way the two games work, their focus and the concepts they were designed around disalow for fair comparisons in many respects. Its not like comparing Quake 2 to Unreal 2.

6) SL is no more "finished" than There is. Both are continuing to improve on the system. Both are "projects" in their own right.

You must realize that many people here have a bad taste in their mouths from There, for a multitude of reasons. Liking There is not (seriously) a sin, but you will find people who will bash it. Don't take it personaly or feel you need to defend it.

We all know SL's true strengths and shortcomings. Fighting about it is pointless because, frankly, many people are very set in their opinions about one game or the other.

For the sake of peace, don't take coments about one or the other personaly and realize that most arent bashing it to cause it trouble their just venting ;)

Step -Step Jerk Jerk

Gwen.
You really cant drive in sl. Physics arent there yet . I AM not bashing anyone personally. As Far as the kids go i think you know what i mean and There.com does police them. As far as land goes you can drive on all of it , not Just 80 % You can also drop Porta zones most anywhere but not on the ocean . There.com is vast and its ALL walkable ridable and driveable .

If you were to add Scripting , Building and Owning your own Land to there.com It would be awful hard to beat .

I want to see BOTH succeed so we can have a choice !

GwyD if you please >_< lol

The physics should be there in 1.1 and basicly are in 1.0.x but we just havent figured out how to script it right yet. You must realize the people who scripted the vehicals in There desgined the system to use them. SL's physics was designed to be a physics engine that you could work in, where as There's is simulated physics for lack of a better explanation. Just play with a socker ball in There for a while to see what i mean.

But frankly if only the talent from There (minus corporate greed) could join forces with SL we'd have holo decks in no time!

And no one would ever see me again... heh

But you cant police Voice chat (except extream examples).

Back to the topic... :)

Everytime SL gets mentioned in a magazine or reviewed on a website, we see an influx of new players. PC Magazine is pretty well read mag, so get ready to welcome the new folks!

And in the long term that means we get a couple new long term people, a couple problem people to weed out, and Beryl, Hikaru and the other welcome area ghosts are getting a bigger bonus :D
