I find that I hear a lot of "So how many people total are members?" or "What's the average amount of people online?" so I figured somthing out today. You can find the total number of people online by simply counting up the number of avatars in each sim by using our new map! So, at 11:13am today, I went to count!

What's the answer? Including myself, exactly 42 people were online! So what's that tell you? The answer to everything still stands at "42"! So deal with it! :D

I thought that was true too. I was in Aqua and looked via map to Gibson and it showed no one there. I teleported over and there were actually several people there. Bug?

Bear in mind, the map only shows AV's that you have calling-cards for. Anyone you don't have a card for doesnt show up.

So there's more than 42 (I'm sure it's not the ONLY answer to life, the universe, and everything lol)

You are neglecting the fact that Dave has everyone's calling card.

No, the map only shows avatars that are closeby! It's just like the minimap works. The big map can only show avatars that the mini-map picks up. I'd love for it to show ALL avatars in every sim, however, at the moment, it does not.

To TRACK an avatar, you have to have their calling card -- you can still see their green dot if you are close.

All of you are wrong :p First of all, only about 20 people actually show up on the map who are on my calling card. I took the count while in an isolated, lonely sim, without actually moving to any other sims (thus loading them and their people up). The count was all over the map, so closeness had nothing to do with it. However, I have seen this problem where it will list a certain number for a sim and then be completely wrong. However this is why I made this post. Even the map says the answer is 42, so this must be proof as to what the answer to all our questions really is!

Wednesday, I'm in 179th place in the calling card leader board, 218 isn't even close to Devlin's insane 1283. :D

Another way to get a count of the number of avatars online is to go to Find, select the people tab, check the online checkbox, and click the Search button (I think that is how the button is labelled).
