As an Australian resident, I was wondering why I can not participate in this intriguing new online world ? (yes, I have created a user, having not noticed the restriction until I went to install the software and read the license... oops - ) Anybody have any idea why ?

Don't worry about it, just ignore it. They put that because they cannot give you support if you have any issues that are because you aren't in the US/Canada. However, I've heard a rumor that it's being removed anyway, so, just ignore it and join our great world!

I sincerely hope you are right, regarding the removal of the US/Can restriction, as I am keen to have a look-see... I will however wait for an "offical" response (I have sent a mail to support), just in case - I don't want to damage US/AUS relations now, do I...

We have plenty of folks here from other countries. Lindens aren't gonna do anything to you if you play, or prevent you from playing

Linden Labs should Change it wording of the tos .
Saying only Us and Canada can play and then knowingly letting people sign on means Linden Labs Isnt Even following its own rules . I have been waiting for someone to post on it because I didnt want to start a war .
Linden Labs needs to reword the tos stating it cant Support for certain reigons and use from certain reigons comes without warrenty or guarentee of use .
As a footnote . Anyone using this service from a country where the USA has a trade embargo such as Cuba and a few others would get Linden Labs into real serious trouble and i mean treason stuff. I would recommend they either Adhere to the current tos Or Change it . This debate has gone on long enough .
It is EXTREMLY POOR Business practice to say one thing and do another .

The US government would NOT go after LL, if we had players from Cuba. They don't go after other games that do, or after chat rooms. I think it's basically understood that the internet is somewhat of an exception to such things, because of the very nature of the internet.

I think it's basically understood that the internet is somewhat of an exception to such things, because of the very nature of the internet. I think its unlikely that the U.S. Government would punish LL for consorting with Cubans. Then again, if this present joke of an Administration decided to add Internet commerce with Cuba to their agenda, it could happen. They no longer need much provocation to do anything these days.
